Great!!
Love the pics & report. I was stationed at Vinh Long, while in the Army, in 1969. We flew all over the delta. My dream ride is to go back & ride that area.

This is in downtown Tra Vinh city in Tra Vinh province. It's a reasonable size city but everything shuts early. The night before after my headache induced laydown in the hotel, when I finished my bowl of pho at about 10pm I tried to find an ice-cream for desert.... everything was shut
But anyway, here is some roadside trading going on at an open-air market: |

All over Vietnam you will find roadside coffee shops. I really like Vietnamese coffee; sometimes hot, sometimes iced but always strong.
Depending where you have it it ranges from about VND4,000 (about US$0.25) up to VND30,000 (US$2) if you are really trying to spend a lot. |

The coffee (a lot of it) is placed in a metal filter which has a multitude of tiny holes in the bottom. Water is then poured in. It takes several minutes for it to drip all the way out into the glass below. It's often taken with condensed milk.
And so it was time for me to have a coffee.... |

Great report. That area and South America are my two places I really hope to see on a bike one day.

Before I go on with my Easter Tour write up -
Biking in Vietnam Factoid: A lot of people in Vietnam like to colour coordinate their helmet and clothes and even their bike as well. Sometimes it is company policy: |

Next stop on now on Easter Sunday was the CAO DAI temple.
Cao Dai-ism is unusual as religions go, as there are three main saints, one you probably would not have heard of, but the others you may have: Cao Dai Saints: Sun Yat Sen http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_Yat-sen and Victor Hugo http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victor_Hugo Yup, that's Victor Hugo the author. Nope, I'm not making it up, you can read more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cao_Dai and here http://www.caodai.org/pages/?pageID=1 There is a big Cao Dai temple in the city of Tay Ninh, but this one below is a smaller Cao Dai temple: |
