Chain questions

What is the difference between O ring and X ring chains? Also when ordering sprockets, what other model Yamaha shares the primary drive and rear sprocket that the WR250R has???? Thanks.

shares the same rear sprocket as the YZ 250/400/426/450 , WR250/400/426/450 , but you will need new sprocket bolts because they use the countersunk bolts.

for the front its the same as the WR250f and Yz250f only.

Any info on projected release date/color options/cost? I see someone said they preordered.......wasnt clear to me how to do that on the IMS website???......also hope it'll be available in natural rather than blue?.......availability?

If the price point/availability is right I may consider it......otherwise I'll probably just go with the Safari......may go that route regardless.......need to sell my Kost Too Much (KTM) first to generate some WR250R "pimping" cash

My apology if this sounds negetive, but only 3 galons even if it's all usuable, is not that much of a gain. Would not have bought the Safari for that small a gain. BUUUT if that works for many riders thats great. I would not switch for anything less than 4.5. Maybe down the line??

this is old news man.

ims said all along it was going to be aprox 3g and use the existing side panels and still have the fuel pump at the very bottom/gravity. they also followed up with the aproval to move forward for a 4.5g or so, which will come later.

not everyone does monster 200 mile till the next gas station rides but many could use an extra gallon. expect it to sell for $223.75 w/ free ship & adv disc. from just gas tanks. alot will bite at that price and NOT pay the extra $200 for another .5g that the safari affords. but the extra .5g was worth it for you as you did buy a safari.

in fact i see safari's sales shrinking to nothing after this tank is available. their choice to finalize it out at only 3.5g will hurt them dearly in sales as all their other tanks are mega bigger than ims (for other bikes) and thus worth the xtra expense to those who need the range. .5g for $200 in not justiable to most except for those with $ to burn.

for this size bike & weight 3 gallons is optimal and should have been what yami did from the factory.
this tank (at ims prices) has convinced me more & more it will be my next small bike.

I think that having the 3 gal in natural is probably not that practical because of all of the stock shrouds covering up the tank. It still may work though. I bet that black will be the hot color because of the color of the stock tank.

B and B Moto Skidplate Updates

More new pics from B and B Moto of V.2 skidplate for the WR250R family. The Baja skidplate incorporates the new extended tabs front and rear, and a robust washout hole pattern.
The Yukon skidplate/toolbox includes the V.2 enhancements from the Baja, and brings a 72 cu.in. lockable, water resistant, hardened box section toolbox. All hardware on the toolbox is stainless with Nyloc nuts. Aircraft grade hinge completes the rugged build. Does not compromise front wheel clearance.
Both skidplates are one piece patterns, bringing increased stiffness and the ability to spread an impact across the structure. Corner reinforcements add to the braced nature of a one piece design.
Comes complete with hardware and instructions.

Baja

Yukon

The toolbox has a closed cell foam seal and a small drain hole. The seal is under compression when the latch is closed.

We'll have to wait and see if you'll be able to get an actual three
useable gallons of fuel out of it.

There isn't a pre-order per se; it's a waiting/wish list so they have an idea who defintely wants one (at least thru Chuck, anyway). I'm keeping tabs on how many ppl do want one, and am waiting to hear back about volume group discount. Quite a few guys want this tank. The price is the same as most of their stock @ $274.95 (on their website, without a discount). As for a release date, nothing yet because they are fine tuning/tweaking to make sure they have full capacity and everything fits right. Chuck will get back to me as soon as he has more info and more pics.

Quite the insight for someone who doesn't even own a WRR. I doubt Safari will have any layoffs due to the IMS tank! Looks like you might be off about $50 bucks on your price quote?
