GotMojo,

Did you relocate your tipover when you modded? Check that, procedure in manual.

Chech the kickstand switch?

Never relocated any switches. All I installed was the FMF Power Programmer, but that was over 1000 miles ago, and earlier today I removed it completely just to make sure that wasn't the problem.

I guess I will check the tip-over switch...although I'm not sure what to look for when I "check" it LOL. Same with the kickstand switch. I've got the service manual, so I guess I've got some work to do... just didn't think this type of stuff would happen at 2000 miles LOL, especially when the bike was just at the dealer for the 600 mile service at around the 1200 mile mark, where they were supposed to check over everything (who knows if they even did anything though).

Mine lives on a Battery Tender when not in use. Plug it in a see how it goes tomorrow.

Thanks. I'll put it on the charger tomorrow, but I don't really think it's the battery. It seems to be turning over fine, just won't start up. I guess it could be one of these switches a few people have mentioned, I'm just shocked it would be something like that when the bike is so new.

IMS 3 Gallon Locking Gas Cap; Tank Fill Strainer

Opinions varied on this one; whether the Acerbis locking cap would fit the WR250R/X IMS 3 gallon tank or not. Some strong opinions out there.

Eakins said it would fit way back when somewhere here in "The Mega Thread", so hats off to him! It fits!

Here's a link to a writeup and pics I posted in the other forum.

Also in the same thread, info on the ProFill Australia filler opening tank strainer. Nice kit and shipped fast!

Someone mentioned the kickstand kill switch. Check it to make sure it's still working.

I keep reading to "check" the switches? Haven't dug into the manual yet, but how do I "check" to see if a switch still works. Do I need some sort of diagnostic tool? There are a bunch of switches on this bike, I guess I just don't know how to tell if one is actually causing a problem.

And are these switches known to cause problems on this bike?

Just for fun check to make sure the connections on your battery
terminals are tight.

Mine vibrated loose a while back, bike still turned over and started but it
was acting wonky and was giving a "check engine" error message on the
display....

Actually, now that I think about it, if your kickstand switch was bad the starter wouldn't work and yours does.

Get a buddy and try to bump start it in 2nd gear. Give your throttle a twist when trying to start it and see if that doesn't help. You've got gas and air are you sure you have spark?

Supposedly Fits Safari, Too

According to the lady at Just Gas Tanks, this locking cap should also fit the Safari 3.5 gallon tank. I cannot verify this as I don't own that tank.

The only switch that could be causing a problem and still crank is the tipover switch. If your instrument cluster is not showing an orange engine light, then it isn't the tipover switch. Move on to the basics.

Ya, the instrument cluster doesn't show any issues. I've checked the battery connections, those are fine. I guess I need to check the spark plug so that's next. Looks like the WRX is going to be parked for a few days though... weather just got nice after a bunch of rain and I don't feel like wrenching and diagnosing when I could be riding. Good thing I've got the Ninja...
