Adventure GL400 conversion

Bought a non running GL400 [CX500 clone] off TradeMe here in New Zealand & set about converting it to a Paris Dakar style adventure bike
I added various parts including an entire Yamaha DT200 front end with clocks off a CB400 & Renthal bars,a BMW G/S front fender & fairing,a pair of modded Ducati 900SS sidecovers,Guzzi NTX fork covers,a pair of 2" longer S&W's,a seat off a Suzuki custom & a rear fender off a Triumph T300
made a folding gearlever out of a spanner & added dirt bike pegs
Its now got 2 into 1 headers with an alloy can & a K&N airfilter
Im still playing with the seat foam & will cover it in probably blue vynil

How about a GL 500...same deal or is there something about it that doesn't translate to conversion?

GL500/GL400/CX500 ,all twin shockers ,are pretty much the same, just some minor differences in grunt & wiring loom, black boxes & bodywork etc

I could be wrong but....... the cl is more a touring type. a mini goldwing called the silverwing. cx is more towards the standard/cruiser type. Same motor etc different frames? FYI there was a cx 650 turbo, that would be a awesome dual sport ( But you ruin a possible collectors item)

GL500 was the Silverwing, I had one for about 10 years. Great bike, this made me think about it again...

What this thread made me think of tonight is converting a used NV700 Honda, a few years down the road.

All the early twin shock frames are similar, minor differences in brackets etc
The later monoshocker 500/650's are quite different

That's the answer--the GL500 I had was a monoshock. So, you think that wouldn't lend itself?
