It is part of a series of bikes built by Icon. Kind of a "end of the world" theme. This one is nice, but the Ural is my favorite by far.

Great looking modern day scrambler. I love a bike that's not afraid to keep going when others would turn around.

I bought it in 2008 with only 1500km on it too. 49,000 is nothing on one of these 125s. You see them are everywhere in Europe and Asia. I've even seen them go well and above 100,000 !
You can tell just looking at the controls that it must be infinitely more comfy, I'll bet it's a blast throwin it around in the dirt.

Build thread still in progress. Suspension upgrades coming soon. XR650R Forks and 16.5" Progressive Shock in back.
How much trouble with the xr650l front end? I hope to use one on my 82 cb750f/ss, thinking about monoshock too.

When you do your build thread can you post a link...PLEASE? Not wanting to sound needy, but I need to know. Looks good BTW!

I've been kicking this around for a year or more, waiting on fundage, what's new? I think I figured out my exhaust though, that's some kinda progress.

THANKS!!

Nighthawk 700S to dual sport

I have an 85 Nighthawk 700S that Im thinking of converting to dual sport. It already has that off-roadish sort of look. I put on V Strom hand guards a long time ago and then took them off, but I think Ill install them back on and put dual sport tires on some spare rims I have. I also want to install a taller windscreen and install a rear rack. I will top it off with some soft saddlebags and bungee a dufflebag to the rack. Any thoughts?

Before:

Presently after I removed the handguards, painted the bike, installed a two brothers muffler and applied new decals:

Do it, and post pics!

One of my long lost bikes, kinda did a lot of dual sport kinda riding with it when I had mine. That bike just felt well balanced to me.

I am toying with the idea of either converting my nighthawk or buying a dual sport like an xl600r or xt600. I change my mind hourly.

It's gonna be tough finding a dual sport tire for that 16" front wheel...

I wouldn't, it won't do as good as an XR and it looks good how it is.

I tend to agree. I remember wanting one of those when they first came out, but kids and tight money prevented that and now they are old enough to be admired by us older guys trying to relive the old days.
Most D/S conversions start out with a bike needing more attention than yours. Personally I'd keep that beauty stock and find something else to modify.

Just my 2 cents:
Nice bike, I wish I had it parked in my stable.

(Trade you a plated electric start xr400 for it? )
