Before you fix that, you need to find out where the short circuit is that blew the 15 amp fuse.

The bike holds 3 quarts of oil. You have to fill the oil tank, then start the bike, let it run, then add another quart.
+1 on the diagnostic (same happened to me not long ego)

As I am getting out of motorcycling I am selling my X Challenge, it is listed on eBay. Thanks to all for all the invaluable info shared on this forum. Cheers.

The manual says the bike holds 2.6 qts. Elsewhere in this forum, problems are reported with adding too much oil.

A simple Turkey Baster can solve the problem of adding too much oil. I often add more than 2.6 and less than 3. Depends on how proper you lose the oil in the first place. So many grey areas in this bike it seems.

So tbarstow, did you replace the whole ignition since they don't sell separate pieces? I popped off the cap on the round side of the ignition to inspect those two solder points and they aren't broken off or anything. Or is it more internal closer to the key side of the ignition? Oh I should also mention that this is the third ignition so its fairly new (bike was stolen twice!).

That part should have warranty if it is new, and if it is faulty.

What do you all think of the updated XChallenge Husqvarna Terra?

I think I will have an option to a G650GS when my X-Country takes a giant crap. (Probably the wiring harness, etc.)

No one makes a perfect bike. The owner has to make it perfect.

There is a thread here about the fork failure (leading lugs broke off) on a current production 650GS. I am leery of buying a new bike I need to also buy a new front end for.

At almost more than 24 kgs heavier and with a travel of 190mm? The XChallenge is not a hardcore offroad but usuable. I'd rather compare the Terra with the XCo then

I had mine replaced under warranty twice. You could resolder it easily and do a better job than BMW did.

I'm looking really hard at the Terra myself. I like the HP boost and the 46mm inverted forks. I'll keep you posted.

The Husky won't share the same front end as a G650 GS.

Yeah, I have it positioned a bit between the two X bikes.

Can you see a conversionto a single pipe and new X Tank being made?

Definately! I am not sure why they went with the added weight/cost of two stainless cans. Think of the diet from switching to one can of a lighter material.

Sure, if there's a market Thinking out loud for myself: in the airhead days BMW's were always "Lego" for grown up kids, meaning a lot could be swapped between the various models and types. They would not have gone so far to use the same rear subframe for the GS and the Terra would they? Because that would definitely enlarge the market for this kind of part.
