This is my new bike. With the original owner of course. Nice.

Sorry, that was vague...

That was a poorly worded, "What's up!". Seeing that you are one of the founding father's of La Familia I should give you a proper too.

Since I hadn't seen you around for a bit (did this old thread ping your email?), I was curious about you and your (ex?) Adventure.

Will make this a short as possible.

After selling the 24 hr a day business in March of this year I ended up moving from Sheridan MT to Dillon MT about 40 miles away. After running the fly shop solo for close to 15 years it was time to go. Met a nurse who also rides, figured the way I ride having a nurse in my live would be a good idea. Also took the summer off from working and spent as much of summer in MT on two wheels as possible. Went to the KTM ADV Rally in Ouray CO, and spent some time in Moab also, etc,etc.. Still got both BMW GS's, KTM 640 Adv, DRZ400, and the two old Bultaco's in the garage.

As for my future plans it's still in the works. Didn't get out of the flyshop with any money so I'll need to find a job in the near future or start getting rid of motorcycles[AND THAT AIN"T GOING TO HAPPEN]. Also as I spend more winters in Montana it might be time to head to warmer weather. West Yellowstone Montana set a record low last night, 45 BELOW Zero. Was a little warmer in Dillon, think it got up to zero yesterday. Montana is a great place to ride for a few months of the years but as an old time born and raised in Montana rancher told me one time, "In Montana you get two winters and one summer in every twelve months".

So that is enough for now. If you need to know more just say the word. Too the few of the Adv Riders that stoped by the Fly Shop over the years. It was nice to meet you and hope to bump it you some time in the future. Also if anybody out there needs to hire a guy who knows more about Fly Fishing and Motorcycles that any normal person should let me know. Only thing is it got to we warmer than 45 Below Zero. Looking for a place that has two summers and one winter.

Wicked Wow !

Boxer1,
excellent pics mate - they look like they've been lifted from a brouchure!
I really liked the autumn shot.
I'm still in a quandry is to which bike to buy, whether I go comfort and go for the 950 ( haven't sat on one yet; I'm somewhat vertically challenged ), or go for something like a 625sxc with a large tank.

Nonetheless - congrats on the great pics.

Incidentally, what sort of tent is that you're using?
That's also something else I am researching at the moment..

Cheers,
Davo

The tent is a two-man eureka, but I don't recall the actual model name. It's nothing fancy but I have been using it for aver 6 years and it has served me well. Light and simple (2 tent poles).

Color me clueless

What are the year/color combinations for the 640A? In the US (if that makes a difference). I can probably come pretty close from looking at the pics on this thread (and bikepics.com) but I thought I'd ask if anyone knows and can just list it off ....

05/06 looks to be all Orange (the only _true_ color :)

I've been looking for an 03 (optimal year IMHO) but I only ever see them in all grey (so so) or the schizophrenic 1/2 grey 1/2 orange.

Blue/Orange isn't so bad but wasn't that 1999 when they went to the high mount muffler?

I've got a pretty good idea of mechanical diffs in the bike from 2002->2006 but no clue before 2002.

Cool2

Does the LC4 alternator crank out enough juice to keep those aux. lights lid without draining the battery dry?
