Tank Capacity 1150GS

I know we have already gone over this, but... Went to my local Shell today after the yellow light had been on for about 20 miles, and put in (without trying too hard) 5.6 gallons! I know that we all agree that the tank is supposed to only be 5.5 including the 1 gal reserve.

This happened once before and I figured that station was having some "issues" with the pump calibration. With this data point, I'm not sure what's going on.

Anybody else seen anything like this. It's a 2001 model, but I can't imagine that matters.

Thanks.

I already put 6+ US gallons on my 1150GS. I'm regularly above 5.5. I did the tank "neck" modification: drill a hole on the sides and bend the overflow part.

This is just one more reason to stick with the R1100GS. Micapeak.com spec sheet says the R1150GS has 5.8 gal capacity with included 1 gal reserve. The R1100GS with plastic tank has 6.6 gal with included 1.2 gal reserve. The metal tank holds 0.3 gal less.

So I can go lots farther and lots slower with Big Red.

I'm sure you're going much slower than a 1150

Now Jean-Luc, you know I mean 1st gear.

Of course, cRAsH solved that little problem on Juan Motime.

Did you do the same? Did it make a difference in the Big Dog?

Inquiring minds demand to know.
