Hi Roy,

Congrats to you on all fronts! Your daughter's graduation and being a cool dad. Not an easy thing to pull off these days. We'll miss seeing you and Jeff up there this year, but there's always next. Enjoy the south or west, there's some beautiful sights out there.

Kim and I are thinking Iceland or Can 2 Mex next year. Interested?

Best regards,

Mike and Kim

Will be back on the 21st of this month.

What is the bike that is for sale in Dick's front yard?
No, I did not go by there. Bill told me.

George,

Dick has decided that the turbo jet ski is the way to go during the summer and the bike is out. So if you or someone you know wants a Honda Shadow cheap... Dick is is the guy to call!

You too-keep them rubber side down and be sure to post regular reports so I maybe I won't miss my MC as much while I'm gone.

Patiently waiting for more...

What a great adventure! I should have kept my DR650.

The Big day arrives!

Well today was the day to head for Alaska. We couldn't get enough time off from work to make the ride from NH around AK and back so as you all know, we flew to Alaska.

With a 4:00 AM wake up call we left Hudson, NH for at Boston's Logan International Airport and waited somewhat impatiently for our flight to depart. Kim had more patience that I did, but we did manage to get the helmet out while we waited...

While we waited, the Captain of our flight did a little housekeeping. A clean plane is a happy plane!!!!

The "dents" above the windshield were a bit interesting though... (not really, just an illusion from the pic)

Have a great journey, words do no justice to riding in the Great Land. Alaska is like no other, keep you eyes wide open-the view is outstanding all the way. Did the ride this time last year-incredible. Glacier Brew House in Anchorage is where we toasted our voyage and then headed back to Texas. Have one for me...

on that note try the micro brew in Homer (sorry I forget the name), Kenai River Brewing in Soldatna (tell them you know the Newfie that was drinking there, I'm on their map) and Kassik's in Kenai. Good beer all 'round!

Good news, the luggage made it!

So our gear made it on the plane with only minor complaints. The guy lifting it off the trolley didn't seem amused and had his buddy help him throw (and I do mean THROW) the gear onto the conveyor. But it did make it onto the plane and all our riding gear arrived with us!

Our bag is the big black one with the two orange HEAVY BAG stickers on it (no joke that's what the stickers say). I think the guy pointing is telling the other guy how much we suck.

There was quite a bit of undercast along the route and not much to see below us as we flew. However, as we got closer to AK, there were some breaks and some mountainous terrain so I took a few shots for you all...

Sorry that they are all bleached out but they were taken with a point and shoot through the plane window. I promise better pics in the future.

Made it into Anchorage

So we made it into Anchorage and have the evidence to prove it. Check out the views from the runway/taxiway. Kind of reminds me a bit of flying into Zurich...

And lastly, here's the evidence that it's Anchorage....

The proof is in the trucks!

Tomorrow we pick up both bikes and we start the trip in earnest. The weather was good today, I haven't checked it yet for tomorrow but frankly it doesn't matter. The adventure is about to start and we are rarin' to ride.

Oh, buy the way, Kim spotted this driving down the street of our Motel 6. We did not Photoshop this. This is real, we only wish we had the camera at closer range when it went by... check this out...

That my friends is a F-15 Eagle taxing by our hotel window on the main road @ 4:00 PM local time. No lie. Go figure. There's more to the story tho...

Mike

How's the swell. Good riding or flat? Isn't it still friggin cold? Are you using a dry suit?

PhotoTex, we'll do our best to take advantage of all AK has to offer including the libations!

Thx,

Mike and Kim

dunno about the swell yet-jeading to the eastern shore to hang with my buddy on Sun. I've been offered an '03 640 to ride on Sun too so that should be fun.
