Big Bear to Yucca Valley -- Two KTM LC8 ADV's

We started out in Costa Mesa on Sunday April 20^th at 8am in front of Shane’s (shunt4488) house. Within minutes, we were heading north on the 55fwy. Destination Big Bear Lake (Fawnskin)….

As we started ascending in the mountains, it became very chilly, so we stopped to get the warmer gear on….

Now in Fawnskin, we got ready for some dirt….

Dirt….

The views and weather were perfect….

Water Crossing….

After the Holcomb Valley loop, it was time for some lunch and fuel before we begin the second half of our ride. We stop at BJ’s Restaurant. This place is awesome….

The Menu….

Food is served….

Nice “biker” friendly atmosphere….

Cash Only….

Quick prep before we hit the trails again….

2N02….

Intersection of 2N02 and 3N03….

Now we are down in the Joshua Trees….

Looking Back….

Looking Right….

Looking Forward….

Looking Left….

After a few minutes of finding our coordinates on the map, we turn right….

Pioneertown….

There are many long and fast dirt roads out here. We past a mini “motocross” track that paralleled the road we were on, so we circled back and ran that section. Its marked on the map below. There wasn’t much sand until just before the pavement starts before hitting Pioneertown.

After refueling in Yucca Valley, we super slabbed our way back to Costa Mesa and was home by 3:30pm. Super fun trails and wouldn’t mind to camp in the area and hit up many of the off-shoot trails that we passed by.

I have ridden dirt bikes in nearby Johnson Valley, but too much sand for my big bike. Those dirt roads you were on looked perfect.

Nice report.

The seat on that 990 doesn't look to comfy. It does look like I'd be able to touch the ground though.

Looked like an awesome trip. We only have woods on the East Coast, different style. I love the wide open spaces you have out there.

Great report, looks like it was nice up there! Funny I just did the same exact ride about 2 weeks ago, even ate at the same little burger joint, good burgers!
