Motorcycles Needed to Help with Triathlon

I was called by the organizer of a triathlon in San Diego to benefit the Navy Seal Foundation....please read on...we have about 3 motorcycles committed to help, need about 5 more........if you can and are interested, please help us out by volunteering and helping them have a successful event.........my friend and I will cover the soft sand sections, so the rest of the riding should be on hard packed beach, running trails and pavement. Please PM me if you are interested. We need people to commit...so far, we don't have enough people interested in this and he may have to go elsewhere....

September 29, 2012 ( The Trident 4 Miler and F1 Triathlon)

Needs: 4 motorcycles total from about 0830-1300.

•Two bikes will be for leading and filming a short 35min circuit triathlon (about 12pm for about 1hr)
•One will be for leading out and possibly filming the Trident 4 Miler (about 8:30am for about 1hr)
•One will be a flex motorcycle to cover unexpected requirements or swap out with another bike

The Trident 4 Miler (T4M) will be on the beach with 90% hard packed sand. See linked map.

The F1 map is coming.

September 30, 2012- SUPERFROG Triathlon 1.2 mi swim, 56 mi bike, 13.1 mi run)

Needs: 8 Motorcycles from 0645- 1430 (shifts may be possible)

•Two Lead motorcycles (one for lead male/ female)
•Two motorcycles with course marshal's (referee's)
•One SAG motorcycle with a roving mechanic
•Two motorcycles with with cameraman
•One motorcycle to flex with....a rover/ course monitor

The bike portion of the race is all on Hwy 75 on the Silver Strand. The run portion is about 75% on roads/ trails. Only 500 meters of the course will be in soft sand. The rest is at the high water line (hard packed sand). See maps.

We would need helmets for passengers as well.

If there is enough positive response we should get as many of the riders together at the race site for about 20 minutes. It could help clear up any remaining questions.

Randy I really appreciate you looking into this. It'll be a cool event and you guys will ad another dimension to it.

Feel free to call or email for more discussion.

I've done this stuff before, including riding on bike paths

I'd help if I didn't already have a few commitments that day.

I'm a bike mechanic and I have motorcycles. This would be perfect for me. I wished I lived in CA.

I'm available both days.
I may have a time constraint of noon on the 29th, but I am good for the whole day on the 30th. PM me if you still need assistance.

New Development: MEDIA Coverage will go way up for this event, since Lance Armstrong will now be racing in it....who knows, we may even end up on TV with our bikes.

We now have 7 confirmed volunteers, need 1 more motorcycle/rider, maybe one or two backups in case someone cancels.

More and more of these adverts are popping up here. Maybe we should have a sub-forum....

This can be demanding riding. It's certainly not all show-and-go. But damn it can be exciting.

PM's sent.... I need full names, address, phone and e-mail....the organizer needs to add us as Additional Insured on the event insurance policy.

Also, need to organize a little meeting and he'll buy us dinner...to discuss the course and go look at it before the race.

It is interesting. Very draining, riding amongst the bikes. Takes quite a bit of concentration.

I was beside Lance Armstrong for a good 10-15 minutes total broken up into 1-2 minute segments. The whole time I kept thinking "I don't want to be the guy that makes a mistake and cuts him off, holds him up, etc..."

I've done this twice up here in Canukistan. It is a great experience and you get to break lots of traffic laws with the cops waving you on

I think that was probably the best part, besides getting to see Lance at work.
