Mental Health Morning

From time to time, life starts to feel so inane, so "according to plan", so like a grind, that the future looks like less like possibility and more like "not this shit again".

I have an easy solution for this problem, and I bet most of you do too. Let's share. Post yours!

Mental Health Morning, take 1, by Neduro:

Get up:

Wake up your partner:

Escape the neighborhood:

Go to the hills:

Admire the sun coming up:

Smile when you realize what you're not doing right now:

Smile more when you realize what you are doing:

In my case, this morning (but this isn't a necessary part of the drill) get turned back by snow:

Enjoy the view:

Then, reluctantly, back into the city...

How do they get the crack into these things? Mmm, Fried Goodnesss...

A smile for the commuters, because you know what you've been doing, and you know what they've been doing, and yours is better:

Rejoining the pace of life, both literally and metaphorically:

Good thing they make baby wipes... at the office by 8:15.

Good idea -

Same here, wait for the little rain squall to blow through.

head up to the goods (2.5 miles of pave)

Get turned around by snow (which is melting slowly but surely)

But then, a call comes in - "hey wanna try these things out?"

YES!?!?

Nice! Since I've got a bad case of PTSD, I think I need to move out west, find a easy job, and ride when I'm not working. Beautiful country you have over there...

Okay, I'll follow your post

Another cool post Neduro. It inspired me to wake up early and get out for a ride before work today. It had rained yesterday and I just could not resist. It was stellar.
Here is a short video/picture post I made.

Be careful...this is more addicting than crack!!! The more I play hookey from the man and the rest of the world, the more I need to do it. Hey, you only go around once so what the hell!!! Let's go.

Choices, choices, choices.....

10 mintues from my house, I meet my partner in crime, Weave, AKA "The Devil"...ten minutes later.....

This brought us to a little slice of Heaven...

OK...Lets ride!

Some more serenity in this crazy world of ours...

OK...Let's ride!

A short break....

All good things must come to an end and it is time to head back to reality...

Due for a revival!

Lately, my mental health has suffered from a different malady- not a grind like in my first post, but a lack of ability to stay on track. It seems like everything is twice as complicated and half as quick as it should be... and the harder I work to make up the difference, the farther behind I get.

Well, screw it. I ain't tryin' harder this morning, I'm going for a ride.

Same trail, new bike. Any guesses?

Up through the richy-rich neighborhood into the mountains...

and onto the trail.

I love this trail. It's beautiful, it's flowing and fun to ride, it's technical in places, and it's brought me some great friends over the years who I met along it's path.

Obviously, motorcycles destroy the trail. Look at the carnage!

And the conflicts... this guy was hiking and looking for his dogs. Too bad user groups can't get along...

It seems like every year we hear another set of rumors about some reason for closure, and every year we work harder to keep the trail in good shape to avoid that eventuality. In the last 3 years, the club in town has put $90k in grant money into improvements, with even more coming from the Fish and Wildlife service and the USFS. This summers rain has done some damage though, with some real erosive spots... must stop this line of thinking, this is a MENTAL HEALTH MORNING! Trying to reason with government agencies is like trying to pick a maple tree- fruitless. I'll leave that for another day.

So, on with more riding. The light is beautiful this morning, too bad my camera is so beat it can't handle it...

One of the main reasons I ride is to explore. I love to find out where things go... but just as much, I love to be somewhere that feels like home. Somewhere with tradition, somewhere that is comfortable. For me, that is this trail more than almost anything else.

Time to head back. Lots to do today, but my attitude will be different with some endorphins flowing.

In the neighborhood, everyone's getting their exercise...

And in the office before 9.

Ahem, if you know anyone with a dead-sexy piece of italian kit, maybe they could make a contribution here, ahem.

The sillouette seems to be lacking the "prow" in the skidplate...
