FJR vs Deer

This is all I have left:

The rest went to the yamaha dealer for the claims adjuster to look at. :( :( :(

Hit a deer at 60mph 1/4 mile from my driveway at 0dark30 on my way to work. Was riding one second and the next I was sliding down the road thinking...I'm sliding...hey my bike just past me....wow this gear really does work. Then I went over to the ditch and got my bent fork feejer, picked her up and grimised as the front tire made crunching noises on the farings. Then rode back to the garage. Got in the daughters car and went to work.

Sorry to hear it, but why'd you keep those two bits?

They were not attached and just happened to stay in the garage when I towed it away.

A deer strike is my one fear while riding. I am glad YOU are OK. Good on you for wearing proper gear.

Insurance totaled her out :(

I went back to the dealer and picked up my very sad looking bike. So I took some photos for posterity.

Side shot so you can see the angle of the forks coming from the handlebars is not the same as the forks below.

Feeling a bit sad, she was a really great bike and Beth and I rode 92900 miles on her with a lot of fond memories.

Wow, glad you are here posting about it, could have been a lot worse. They make new FJRs every day, the important thing is you are still alive.

WOW! Glad you are OK. I'm a little surprised the bike looks as good as it does. What gear were you wearing? It's a great endorsement. Hope it all works out for you.

Sorry to hear BB, I know I missed mine after the accident in 2007 so bad I bought another 2 months later. That one broke my ankle, I guess it was payback for killing one of her friends. We get along much better now.

On the plus side... with the new suspension geometry, you can finally get some decent handling outta that thing.
