This is stunningly bad news.

The loss of Warren is truly a loss to the motorcycling community. I met him and his lovely wife Carol, a great motorcycle rider in her own right, at the Swamp Scooters Rally in Nov, 06. I had the privilege of sharing good food, great stories, laughs and lies at campsites with him and Carol and our gang at several events since that time. I just missed my last opportunity to see him in TN this past weekend, as I didn't attend the GA Mtn Un-Rally in Townsend.

Physically a big man, Warren gave an impressively gentle hug. It was evident in his enthusiasm and the glint in his eye when he told of his latest ride how much he loved riding. He always pitched in when there was work to be done around the campsite, but he also knew the value of relaxing.

He sat with me alone for a while after last year's GA Mtn Rally, and we chatted about life in general. He told me about how he and Carol had met, where they'd lived, and about some of their adventures. His love for her was as obvious as his love of motorcycling. He offered me some advice on my life and told me his great truism of life on two wheels: "Marylee, on some level, in some fashion, all motorcyclists are mavericks."

I didn't get to know Warren as well as some on this list knew him, but what I did know, I really liked. I feel fortunate that my life crossed paths with his, and I know I am better for it. I just wish he'd had more time on this earth.

doGspeed, Warren. I will miss you.

Such sad news and update

Many thanks for posting these pictures Marylee. I think we are all in a deep state of shock...last night was the first time I cried in my helmet.

I'm here at Jerry and Cindy's house in Lafayette and we assisted Carol this morning with making the funeral arrangements...thanks to the leadership of Mike Landry and the gentlemen at Martin and Castille Funeral Home.

For those that can make it visitation will be held Sunday, May 11, 2008 4:00-8:00 PM CDT at Martin and Castille Funeral Home, 330 Saint Landry St., Lafayette, LA 70506. 337.234.2311.

Services will be held Monday, May 12, 2008 at 11:00 AM CDT.

If tears could build a stairway,
And memories a lane,
I'd (ride) right up to Heaven
And bring you home again.

Ride on,
Sunman

You don't expect to make a best friend when you get this old, but I did. Being Warren's friend made me proud of myself. I don't know exactly what he would say at a time like this, but it would be wise and right and good.

He will be missed!

I was fortunate enough to spend last weekend with Warren.

Always a great person to be around. Wonderful personality, helpful, always smiling and laughing.

In the slow race.

Godspeed Warren.

Vaya con Dios mi amigo!
