I also want to get a new gas cap (someone wrecked the outside of it. Any idea what that would cost and where to get it? I also want to do LED stalks for the front and rear indicators and there are loads on amazon. Anyone care to give a recent update on these?

My battery is retained by a rubber strap with a metal hoop on the end. This is stock. If you cannot or wish not to get the stock strap, a double sided Velcro strap might work well.

2 - Has not been an issue for me, but I am familiar with the rubber strap with attaching hook as previously mentioned. 3 - Yes, they can shrink, they can also get hard. The last time I worked with carb boots I was helping a guy with a Ninja 250, and we ended up boiling them for about five minutes. O.M.G. it made them so soft and pliable...it took mere moments to get them back on... |

battery retainer
are you worried the battery will be moving around. if it stays in place like that, i say leave it. or you could fork over $$ for a replacement strap. it might be worth the peace of mind. maybe a bunch of rubber bands?? or a shoelace could be worse.

So today was the first ride in snowy conditions. Hard pack, ice patches and deep powder...the little KLR handles it with ease.
The light weight and low power output makes it the perfect winter bike for me...and fun too!

Brought home my new toy but at 50 mph and 45 degrees the temp guage runs in the red. Fluid is fine. Do the klr250 s run hot normaly?
