Hey guys, West Michigan inmate looking for a little help here.

I am considering riding down to Wrigley Field for the Tigers/Cubs matchup on Tuesday 6/12 (Tigers are the local team, but you gotta love the Cubbies and Wrigley) and wondering about parking the KLR.

Can I just squeeze in somewhere or is enforcement just too heavy for that?

Any advice on where to go otherwise?

Will the bike be relatively safe there?

Thanks!

You should be able to get close to Wrigley and park between cars on a main street. Most residential side streets anywhere close will have game day restrictions in place and you will get ticketed. The bike should be safe, I mean it's a KLR, right?
Just use common sense, anything easily removed like a tank bag, helmet on helmet holder etc wouldn't be a good idea.

Thanks. I read somewhere that motorcycles were not required to show residential parking permits.

Can anyone confirm this?

In general, residential parking is permitted to residents and their guests. Any trucks, cars, or similar vehicles require a residential parking permit or visitor parking permit. Scooters and motorcycles are allowed to park in residential zones without displaying any parking permit.

I found this on this attached link.
http://www.einsurance.com/journal/mo...guide-chicago/
Looks like we do get some brakes. I had season tickets to Comisky in 2000 with parking pass. When we road bikes we had to pay for the second bike. the full boat. No deal. Even though we only took up one space. Every time we went to a game I asked the money grabber about the situation. Just for kicks. of course. They got to know us pretty well. Have fun at the game.

Good info, thanks man!

My issue now seems to be getting a ticket to the game not for parking illegally!

There were quite a few tickets on the local craigslist, but they must have all sold because I didn't get any return emails to my inquiries.

I am hoping I can pick up a ticket outside the park for something less than an arm and leg.

Seems to be a LITTLE KNOWN fact. Especially useful considering how insane the parking rates are now (and how the pay areas seem to have grown).
This is a scan of the actual city of Chicago brochure on cycles and scooters that spells out the regs in residential areas:

http://www.chicagoabate.com/Motorcyc...erBrochure.pdf

and is repeated is various forms on a number of city and city related (alderman/wards) webpages:
>> Motorcycles and scooters may park in RPP zones without displaying an annual or visitor residential parking permit.

So, yes FREE parking in Chicago (on residential./non-paybox/metered streets)......must be an oversight (for now).

Just go to the game. You will find tickets. If you can not get tickets at the box office there will always be the street scavengers (scalpers) that are willing to part you from your money. If you have never been to Wrigley, GO! I have spent many a day there. When it was cheap and fun. Now it is Expensive and a PIA in my book.
Wait untill the game starts and prices will tumble with the scalpers.

RA Rally

Anybody going to the RA rally in Colorado? I am packing the trailer today and leaving in the AM.

Will set camp at the rally and then drive back to Denver to pick up the little lady at the airport. Two weeks of riding and camping and then drop her off at the airport. Some people have to work you know

Just saw this. Check your pms. You can park at my place. 200 yards from the gate J of Wrigley
Tickets are not a problem when the Cubs are 20 games shy of .500

I did, but didn't have a chance to respond before the game.

Thanks mucho! However, I found another hook up and grabbed a ticket to the bleachers from the street. Tigers lost, but it was a good time anyway.

Rare game when the Cubbies win.
Sorry T.
