I did not stop at the KTM booth. I did not sit on Dungey's bike.

After tossing my leg over many bikes........I forsee a Ducati in my near future.

Good seeing you spdjkny.

Chicago Trib -(yesterday/Friday): "Older bikers hurt in more accidents" (section 1, page 19)
Interesting (i.e. GARBAGE) story.

Original story appears to have been published in the LA Times the prev day:
http://www.latimes.com/health/booste...,3484740.story

The Chi trib version: http://www.chicagotribune.com/health...,2262856.story

But when the Chicago Trib reprints story in the actual paper, they uses their own photo instead of the generic one in the LA Times story.
The Pic should look FAMILIAR --its from the Dan Ryan accident last year --a biker got clipped by a car coming north on the Ryan in the early AM hours---the driver of the car didn't was under age, didn't have a insurance, didn't own the car (late model cadillac, had excess passengers) and, naturally walked away. The biker did not.
[I followed that story for a few weeks hoping to see any developments, but nothing ever came of it.]

Coincidentally, I visited a bunch of Helmet manufacturers and distributors at the Chi MCY show yesterday (before the show officially opened, so there wasn't any public distraction), and asked about helmet replacement, recycling and disposal. I went to Nolan, HJC, Shoei, Bell, and a couple others. The responses varied from a simple 'No, were not interested in what you do with the old one', to an offensive, "what does it matter, throw the old one out". I'm not outing any of them...they just didn't care---all but one---a distributor that took in helmets less than 5 years old on trade and refurb-ed them and sold them as 'used'. Most of the mfg didn't care how old of a helmet I might be talking about---more than one suggested it's 'better to keep several and then you can trade off or loan one out".....They seemed to only want to 'sell' a new one (not for reasons of safety, just to sell it, and had no interest in the 'old' one).

Good seeing you also. I won't tell anyone how excited you were in the KTM booth.

Went to the show today, hadn't been in 5 years or so. Was nice seeing the bike mfg stuff, but the vendor stuff left a lot to be desired. It was pretty full, but seemed to be 90% cruiser crap. I guess that's the demographics these days (ie where the money is) but would have been nice to see at least some ADV stuff.

Every time I'm at the bike show or in a Ducati dealer my body automatically gets pulled over to the Hypermotard. Badass bike!!

I'm torn between Hypermotard, 848 Streetfighter, or 1199. Though for all practical reasons the Hypermotard is probably highest on the list. The cable clutch is goofy though.

I am not buying a new bike because...

The best bikes ever made were 98-00 2 strokes and I have a garage full.
