86' Yamaha TT350 Jet Kit?

Does anyone know if there is a jet kit available for for my 1986 Yamaha TT350? I have had my bike in and out of the local shop...they tell me that there is no kit for this bike.

Let me back up a bit. My Dad bought this bike new in 86' and added a Super Trap pipe to it a few weeks later. We lived in Oregon and rode that area for many years. Then my parents moved to Colorado...different elevation. He took it in and had it jetted for the altitude change.

He recently gave the bike to me...I still live in Oregon. The bike runs good on the low end, but when I really get on it or need some top end power it spits and sputters.

I am mechanically retarded, so I don't really know where to go from here.

Any help or advice would be most appreciated!

Have you tried a Yamaha Dealer? I am sure they will sell you a Main Jet for it.

I never found a kit for the XT or TT350. But a mechanic at the Yamadealer was able to find compatible main jets and a pilot jet for my XT from the parts bins. He went one size larger for all of them to go with a Supertrapp and opened airbox. My XT didn't have clips for the needles so those got shimmed by thin washers the equivalent of one clip position. The secondary linkage timing was changed so that the secondary engaged at the same time as the main. And last he drilled the brass cover off the mixture screw and adjusted that a 1/2 or 1/4 turn richer. All of that ended up being just about perfect. It turned that XT into an entirely different machine.

Go to thumpertalk and search under vintage. There are a lot of posts about rejetting XT and TT350's. I think one of them said which brand of jets would swap into the carb. But don't hold me to that.

A TT350 is neat old bike. The engine is the same as an XT350 but the frame and suspension are worlds better. I lusted after one of those back in the day. Those YDIS carbs are a serious PITA. So your best bet might be to try to track down an old school Yamaha mechanic that remembers the beast.
