autocom and escort 8500 x50 cable trouble

Hi guys I am on the road. I have a autocom super pro avi. I pllugged a 3.5mm mono cord from jack 2 into the escort. I am not getting any sound, but a little if I wiggle it. The 3.5 seems a little loose. What cables do I need to hook them together?

Alright its got something to do with a Ground Loop isolator (autocom or escort?). Do I get a stereo to mono adapter from radioshack or something else?

Turn the volume all the way up on the Escort, then it will work.
