Birdawg and Mrs Birdawg down

Just wanted to sign in briefly. 2 weeks ago wifey and I were T-boned by a drunk driver. He made a left turn, drunk, high speed, no signal, suspended license and ran us over.
We were both life flighted out. She has a broken nose and teeth and bruised up pretty bad. Both of us have something broken in our lower backs. I have 4 broken ribs, broken shoulder blade and a partially collapsed lung.

From the paramedics and most others involved, they could not believe we survived. Our riding gear and the bike saved us. The Boxer engine took the brunt and broke in half, but it saved me from being crushed.

We both love to ride, but it looks like my riding days are over for a while.

We had on Some BMW Jackets(Santiago and R2Pro), BMW and Filson gloves. Alpinestars boots.

Jackets were both cut off. I don't remember the sound of the crash, but I do remember the R2Pro being cut off me.

If we had been wearing T-shirts or something of the like, we would have some serious scars to contend with plus lots more recovery time.

Glad to hear you're alive, and I hope you're both well soon. To paraphrase Steppenwolf, "God damn the drunk driver man."

There were a lot of Local BMW guys (RAMS) that showed up and helped us both out. We have a 2 year old and this has been very tough on all. We gots lots of food brought to us plus many a kind word. I am very thankful for the people I hang with.
I never expected such an outpouring from my biker friends.

damn... so sorry to hear.

find a good lawyer. make it worth your while, and make sure the bastard doesn't get a license for a few years.

that is the very reason my wife won't ride with me anymore--too many fears for our son...

hope she & you heal rapidly.
