That's pretty close. What's your route? I'll be leaving the Long Beach airport area by 1pm. I'm off at 12. I planned on heading up the 405 to the 14 > 395. I try to stay away from downtown LA (5 freeway), unless the traffic won't be that bad on a Thursday afternoon?

Sounds good. I'll keep an eye out for your rig. What are you driving? Towing a trailer with bikes loaded? A plated bike isn't necessary, but you won't be able to "legally" jump onto paved roads to ride in between some trails. There's single track trails to/from camp. I think it's called the Beach trail?

I'll be driving and pulling this:

This is the first camping trip for the pair.......

I finally was able to put some miles on the new motor in the DRZ..it feels really good.... Eddie Sisneros over at ThumperTalk rebuilt it as a 440 with new head, crank, FCR 39... it feels really strong.

I rode it up to Hidden Springs Cafe today and everything seems good..I think I'm going to like this bike...

Still have to set up the bars and suspension for my height and weight... not sure if I can get this done before the trip... but I'll try.

Planning to leave about 10-11AM Friday from Burbank 5->14-> 395...

I hope all this mechanical stuff holds together..

Nope, taking the YZ250 2 smoke, but I may bring both. But I'm not sure if I want to carry all that weight, plus it gets in the way of my beer

I like the 5 to the 14. When it gets closer to the date, I'll let you know what time. All depends what time I can get off work.

Kennedy Meadows/Troy Meadows

Just got back from TM yesterday. A few things: There were cars parked by the pumps at the general store. I'm assuming they had gas. Best bet to get it at Pearsonville Shell station (located just a couple of miles shy of 9 Mile Canyon ), Troy Meadows regular camp is quite nice. We stayed on loop C and there are many sites that will accomodate Toy Hauler + trucks ( our RV is 28' + trailer and had no problem findng spots). Camp is clean, picnic benches, flat tent area, bear storage lockers, pit toilets, water faucets every third site? but no showers. Spots are paved, most are level and only $10 a night. Nine Mile Canyon is doable in RV. Keep in low gear going down.
