I also watched the start on YouTube. There were a lot of Harleys and GSs. I saw more Vstroms participating than k1600s.

Over the past 4 days, I realize that the ability to stand up is what made it possi le for me to do long days on the SE. Today was 6 hours of riding, stopping only for gas, and it felt like an easy day.

Keep your eyes on the swinging fob.....you're getting very, very sleepy..... When you awake, give Ken the BMW and buy an FJR......next, give Ryman the SE and buy yourself a KLR......these new bikes will give you and your ass much pleasure when you ride with pluric.....

I'd listen to the man. Pretty much a living legend on pleasuring ass. Okay, so it's mainly
animal, but I hear he is an authority and speaks from personal experience.

late september 4 day weekend?

...if the ktm rally is bit to early for your kitchen pass:

Anyone want to get out sept 20(fri) - sept 20 (mon)? dirt camping style...

i'd be there if the stars aligned for the ktm rally but the timing seems not to jive.

The good, the bad, and the ugly

Harcus wanted some moto porn, so here it is:

Getting packed and ready. I have 4 days to go from Lubbock to Ft Worth, then all the way up to Worley, ID.

Left Saturday morning from Ft Worth. I rode all the way to Ft. Collins. 810 miles of mind-numbing slab. The enchiladas in Trinidad, CO kept me tootin and scootin through 2 nasty thunderstorms.

The next evening found me outside Thermopolis, WY.

Then on to Missoula where I stayed with an inmate.

Nature all over the place

Then on to Worley, ID. If given the opportunity to ride highway 12 from Lolo to Lewiston, take it!

Dinner here

Sleeping here

Okay, so the plan was to use some tent space and shop time offered by some inmates whose business sits next to Lake Coeur d'Alene. I would hang out for a day, swapping rubber to knobbies, and change the oil. Then I would catch a flight back to Lubbock, leaving the bike in their shop. I would work for a couple weeks, then fly back, hop back on the bike and ride the continental divide trail from Canada to Mexico.

While putting the oil cap back over the oil filter, one of the bolts snapped at the head. Not a problem, use a bolt extractor to get it out, right? Nope, while extracting the bolt, the housing around the bolt cracked and broke...LC8 owners understand this is part of the left side engine case. One can't just replace the part that's broken without replacing the entire case.

So I am sitting there with 3 ADV guys who have 100s of thousands of miles of riding between us, and they are all boat mechanics as well. The best idea we had was to try and JB-Weld the cap in place, then I would do something more permanent back inLubbock...after riding 2500 miles off road.

We did our fix, and I took the bike on the road to test it. Within 5 miles, this is where I ended up.

Needless to say, I was feeling pretty fooooked. Here are the guys in Worley

I think Walrus and Harcus have ridden with the guy on the far left.

They have the bike in their shop, and think they can get a guy in Spokane to weld up the crack, then retap the bolt hole. If they can do that, I am back in business, if not...I guess I need to ship it back here...or Ryman's dad, who lives close by, has offered me his wife's scooter.

HICK!!! How the heck are you???? How are all you Utards? You got to ride with BURT?? Man is a legend. I'm hoping to see him in early Oct. on our way down to Mexico...going to take my "new" bike over the border to watch Frog ride in some Rally event (with Ned Susi & Johnny Campbell for competitors!) Your bike is looking pretty cool...other than the fact it took a puke roadside
Almost 2 years after the insurance co came and drug off my trashed 650, I finally got a "new" bike: 2010 w/ 2,600n=mi!

This is what is looked like when I got it.

Iv'e been trying to learn how to ride the "big bike" off-road again.

But, I'm not that smart so this is what the bike looks like one month later:

Oh well, Frog already rode it over a pile of logs anyways. Good thing this one came with crash bars!! PM me...I'd love to hear from you guys and maybe even get out and ride with you all again.

DG!
I was wondering if you were still in the land of the living. Get Matt and Fano to stop f*cking around with the little bikes, and let's all do a Copper Canyon trip.

Yeah, I camped at the sites just before the tunnels start in the canyon. Sturgis was about to happen and it was a noisy night as every adolescent on his Harley had to rev his pipes and honk his horn as he passed through the tunnels.
