With the recent rain, you might see footpeg deep puddle crossings, otherwise a very manageable big bike route
No kidding. We planned to ride AF today on the little bikes, but the rain deterred us to 5Mile, but now 5 Mile is getting hammered. No riding today

At the last minute we decided to chance it yesterday and ride 5 Mile. It rained on us during the drive, so we weren't hopeful. The Motorcycle Gods were smiling on us. 5 Mile was dry, 67-78 degrees and overcast. It was a perfect day to ride. And to top it all off, we were the only people on the trails...it turned out to be an amazing 3 1/2 hrs of riding.

This was the first ride where I really was able to stretch out the KTM 530 since my crash last year....damn that bike rocks. I was considering a new 500 xc-w...not now. My steed fits me great.

Off-road knee brace

Post accident and nearly 12 months of recovery, my doctor told me to consider off-road knee braces for both knees. A riding brace will protect my knees from a similar injury and he said they are great at impact absorption.

Does anyone ride with these... if so make and model recommendations

They arent cheap! But less expensive than my $30k medical bills.

Week before last I did an impromptu camping trip on my 525. I left my house in PG and headed to Strawberry Ridge. I didn't plan any routes or anything, but wanted at much singletrack as possible. I left around 4pm on Sat and barley made to Strawberry ridge before dark, I actually had to setup camp in the dark.

At my house ready for adventure!

Squaw Peak Road

Trailhead of cottonwood canyon

Close to the ridge as the sun sets, it was a really cool sunset

Camp the next morning. This was 80 miles with about 30 miles dirt roads and 30 miles of singletrack.

All ready to hit the trails

Saweet!

From hwy 6 I was trying to find a way up to the ridge to get over to Strawberry. Ran in to this SUPER gnarly hill climb, I don't know if I would even have done it with someone else there, it was bad. Years ago I rode this without issue on my 2 stroke, boy did I feel the difference on my loaded 525, it didn't like the heat either.

Wandering around looking for another route, I found this

Made it! found a really fun atv trail that went the long way around, but it was totally worth it

More sweetness

Lunch spot and a chance to wash up and cool down

Then more fun

After this I headed into Strawberry marina and got gas. I was not making as good as time or distance as expected and stopped taking photos as I was getting frustrated with route finding and kept having to turn around on roads that didn't go through. I finally got over to the great western trail that comes down into Provo Canyon.

Not far down this overgrown trail I started hitting downed trees. I was able to get around a bunch of them and then hit this

No go!! I guess this hasn't been opened up this year. One of the logs I acrossed getting out there was easy going out, but not so much coming back. This doesn't look like much, but I really was feeling screwed. The bike was too heavy and akward with the case on the log to just muscle it over, I really had to be careful not to drop it downhill or I'd be screwed. I ended up letting the front tire go off the trail to get the back over, then just worked the front back up, I was sweating my balls off.

Happy I was back on the trail and rode out through walsburg.

I have custom CTI braces, you should have your doctor write a prescription for them and all you do is pay your co pay, which for me was $100. The braces retailed for $3200, haha..
If you want off the shelf ones Asterisk are really good.

I have a WR450F which looks like it would do the trick. I also have a YZ250 and KTM 950. I am game for making plans one of these weekends.

Looking for trail advise... I would like to ride Slickhorn's Chalk Creek route but I'm concerned about too much mud. My BADB is a little on the heavy side and she doesn't like mud bogging....okay it's really me . Not a big fan of riding a 500 lbs bike in axle deep mud for miles. Does anyone know the conditions in the Uintas around Whitney Reservoir? My second option is to plan a west desert ride.

My route goal is dirt and as little asphalt as possible.
