On that note, your 690 will go anywhere a 450 will go. I rode my XR650R on all the same stuff I rode my 250. Only handicap with the XR was after dumping the bike, starting was a chore, but you've got "the button", so that's a non-issue. Bring your CR250........... |

Did you buy an XC in place of an EXC cause that is what you found or what? Since an EXC has lights, etc, that would have made plating easier. What am I missing?

The XC has different suspension than even the XCf-W, XC is MX type dual chamber forks and I think the EXC and XC-w have single chamber for the fluid. Cams and power curve are different.
IIRC the XC-w has a lower gear ratio in 1-3 than the XC, then the other gears are higher. For a TAT type trip I'd rather have the XRR, where some of your hero's ride I'll take a 200SX,lol EXC's are the easiest to street legal, but the XC is more of a dirt shredder. The XC is easier to hammer the whoops too. GISkev: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxObELla8Ns no, I don't have one, but I could steal one :) Quote:

There is a reason why most racers are on a 450/530 not a 650. In tight stuff they are faster and even in Baja, where the 650 used to be faster, they are faster. And there are plenty of deep extremly fast sand washes down there.
Yes you can go anywhere you want on the 650 but you will be faster on a 450 and do it with less effort. BTW the guy that came in 1st and 2nd in Commander51's class were both on 450's.

Depends on the xc/mxc. I think the only ones that have dual chamber are the version trackhead has?? Both my 04 and 06 are open chamber forks. And the xc 6th gear is lower then the exc. I just put 5th and 6th from an exc in my 525xc so I could gear lower and still have the same top speed. The first gear in the non-07 450xc is way too tall for slow stuff. Here ya go 450/525sx 16:32, 18:30, 20:28, 22:26 450/525xc/mxc 16:32, 18:30, 20:28, 22:26, 24:24, 21:18 450/525exc/w 14:34, 17:31, 19:28, 22:26, 24:23, 26:21 450xc some 06 and all 07 14:34, 17:31, 20:28, 22:26, 24:24, 21:18 Edit: 400 exc same as 450exc and 250who cares noone wants a bike that small.

Good one, that's why you have to have MORE than 1! (AR or KTM)

I like the bike. Easy to work on. Tank comes off really quick, seat is held on with one bolt, carb is easy to get to, shock pops right out, easy to get to the valves, etc, etc. |

Good info, lots of MXC's on sale at KSL.com, tall 1st gear. $2500 03 525MXC's EXC's are running $500+ more.
I'm looking for a donor 250exc, then a BB kit to 355 or 400 for Mav, good torque and 25-30lbs lighter than a 400EXC, super plush to finish it off for a great Utah trail bike. Quote:

Hey guys... chime in if you can. Am I too big for a YZ125? 6'2" 185. A guy in Idaho wants my AR for his 2001 YZ 125. Another guy offered me his 2003 KTM 250SX, but wanted some money too. Any thoughts? Can I ride the twosmokes the same places as the fourstrokes? I cant get a two stroke plated right?
