It used to be that whenever Camelbaks were removed, they had to be leaned against front wheels.

That only works if you're rolling forward. Backing out... this is what happens.

New rule: Whenever removed, the Camelbak waist belt must be clipped onto some part of the bike.

I don't know why, but I find this photo a little sexy...

I think we stopped for her to defleece... maybe it's the mud caked on the visor... or else the fingernail polish?

I'm mortified to report.

I think he had ridden this route in '06,

and while it was mighty tasty riding,

We weren't able to, um, ride the exact route that he did.

(got around that one)...

but was stopped by this:

but the go-arounds were fairly straight forward,

and we carried on, with a little re-routing.

We were just playing... having a ball.

at the Susanville chamber of commerce (and Parks and Recreation headquarters)

gave us the 411 regarding the best B&B in town, (which we spared from turning into a super-fund site since we were so dirty), and the best restaurant in town... the Sage Hen; with "a new French chef, who cooked authentic French cuisine using local ingredients and has really turned the place into a destination," according to the clerk.

So, follow our logic: the promise of a good dinner. therefore wine. therefore no motor-bikey. no taxi cabby here either. therefore, we must find a motel within walking distance to the restaurant!

Makes sense to me.

(way on the other side of town from the B&B, btw), and pulled into a quaint-looking mom & pop type motel, the Apple Inn, which we quickly pulled out of when we saw what looked like (unconfirmed... just bad vibes) a drug deal going down.

Across the street, and down a ways was a Best Western, and we got ourselves a real, honest-to-goodness motel room. We felt so civilized.

We peeled off our riding gear, and de-bugged:
