Situation at work has been more challenging & problematic. I'm stuck here overnight with all but two patients evacuated. I don't want to hijack our own ride report with the details, but I should be able to process some photos on the laptop, just no way to upload them.

Biggest issue for us now is a hot shower.
Original post got cut off. Had to rewrite in edit mode on smartphone. Cell service really sketchy. What a PIA. Go home and hug your broadband. ;-)

Posting from the field; please excuse brevity & misspellings.

Glad you are both OK and were somewhat prepared. Like the old Chief said to Josey Wales While quoting Lincoln said, "Endeavor to persevere."

Just like on the trail isn't it??? Well...not really. I too am glad you guys are ok but I honestly wasn't that worried about you two. All the stuff you've gone through on Mobius has prepared you better than most.

Thinking good thoughts for you and LDF. Been getting sketchy details from my little sister in Staten Island and it's not good at all. Hopefully it'll all just be a bad memory soon.

Don't forget the power of a Baby Wipe "bath"....

sandy intermission...

From the latest con-ed outage reports (also twitter) sounds like the utility is starting to get the wet primary substation bits sorted and dried. After primary voltage is restored (sat?), will be building by building depending where the electrical rooms were located (above or below waterline). Water (salt) and electrons not a good mix. What a PITA...

local NW news on Thu (nov 1st) showed a private charter being boarded by NW line journeyman to add to the mutual aid crew roister. Hopefully better design lessons learned will come out of this weather disaster.

very smart thinking filling your bathtub before your building lost power.

sincerely hoping life returns to semi-normal very soon.

Thinking of you

I'm glad you and LDF are wheathering the storm. Know that alot of us Canadians are thinking of you all in the coastal States that really got hammered. sending as much good karma as I can your way. Wish I could do more to help.

Sincerely a Kanuckle head from Winnipeg Manitoba

We'll just consider this a Mobius Interlude. Would love to see some of your pics of what you are having to deal with there. Being on the Gulf Coast, Hurricanes are part of the deal and I've been thru a number of them; the aftermath is always a challenge, and always very uncomfortable. I keep screens for the windows when there is no air conditioning and can hook my attic fan to a generator, but in NYC I doubt those are options for most. Dittos on congratulations for filling the bathtub with water. That's thinking ahead.

Come back to us when you can!

Was just wondering about you two and how things were in your neck of the woods. Nowhere near caught up here but glad to hear you're doing fine.

Wait.... 4 years, umpteen thousand miles, across the country and another country several times, mostly off road, and it failed? !

Did ya keep your receipt?
