Looks like that thread was deleted (by ??) which was a pity as it had a whole load of info on akras in it. It was posted in the flea market so maybe they auto-delete?

Hey man, could you post a photo of the outlet of the main silencer (where your hand is!) which would show if it has a DB killer fitted or at least the provision to have one fitted? Thanks

okay I'll make a pic for you, but right now I can confirm that it has mounted db killer with possibility to unscrew it or change on another one

Staintune

Finally - after years of waiting for one at the right price, I just purchased a Staintune can for my 2003 LC4 - I'm going to get the restrictor and confirm with USFS that it is an adequate sparky.

I should get to pick it up this week - I'm working on the carb already so its a good time to fine tune for the new exhaust.

The reason I've wanted one is its solid state - no repacking - much lighter than the stock Supertrapp, and said to sound very nice yet not as loud as a modified stocker. I didn't find any of their hi-flow headers, but I probably don't need them.

Ah, sorry this is probably not good news:

Calmoto was auctioning off their old stock - about half retail price, which is usually wholesale cost - a local LC4 owner snatched up the other one of two in the auction, so I'm guessing they are out.

I put on some GRAFOIL Plain-Nuclear Grade GTF (graphite tape) on the midpipe joint to help seal it to the Staintune. Checked the fit of the side panel:

Looks like enough space for the rubber spacers, which I had to order, along with some other bits. The only thing that concerns me is the alignment puts the exhaust output close to the rear fender/red reflector. Maybe its not too close, or maybe I can adjust it, but I've not been able to even with bending the midpipe around. I can take a pic if someone wants to comment.

Sealing the md joint is a major PITA. :/
can you show the stuff you used for it, meat? Pretty sure in Europe they are called otherwise ;)

I've heard high temp RTV silicone can be corrosive in this application, and I didn't have any of the specific stuff used to seal exhaust systems (seen posted on ADV), but I did buy some of this graphite tape, used to seal threads in high temp applications. GRAFOIL Plain-Nuclear Grade GTF is what its called.

I just ran a few runs of it round my mid-pipe's end, but to tell the truth I think the Staintune's pipe was a pretty damn good fit without it.

Interesting that these pipes are so sought after over there... being made in Australia I find they're everywhere... I actually have two old LC4's sitting in the shed right now with StainTune's on them.. How much do they retail over there for?

Not sure if its a 2003-2004 thing but my staintune fitted with a cast hanger on the rear mount too. Just going off the photos this would put the end of the pipe too high and too close to the mudflap.

Sorry cant take photos as its been replaced now.
