northern ontario canada weekend loop - my first ride report

Well i rode south from wawa ontario this weekend. Left after work on Friday 530 pm in the pouring rain. Took logging roads to halfway haven 75 miles south of wawa in the middle of no where toward Searchmont. Got there, at about 730pm, got gas and kept on ridin, narow trails south of there. planned to connect to some loggin roads an find my way to hwy 129 west of elliot lake.
I planned on getting as far as i could that night and set up camp around 9 pm. I only got about 30 k south of halfway haven though and swamped out in a big water hole, was stuck in the mud and half submerged or more. , Glad my bike wasn't too heavy, and the awesome turbocity rack is strong to yank off of. Took about 30 minutes to drag the bike out and finally get the water out and get it going again.
it was raining a bit I was sweating in all my gear, wet from the water hole and it was almost dark, so i set up camp to get some dry clothes on and make a fire about 10 k after that, Glad it stayed above freezing that night.

Friday night was definately a great adventure and it just got easier the rest of the weekend with 800 k and 16 hours of seat time by the time i got home.
more to come and pics too

You be careful out there by yourself Gord. That's some desolate country you're riding through. Sure can be scenic .

didn't get many pics the next morning as my camera batteries died with the water but here is one of the logging road i connected with to head off in a more easterly direction to connect with highway 129 . This morning I saw about 100 rabbits. lots of grouse and one moose.

got some batteries at black bear resort on hwy 129, originally wanted to ride a dirt road from there to elliot lake but didn't have time to head there though as i had an appointment in Sault Ste. Marie at 430 :-[

so i headed down 129 about 40 kms to Warncliffe and then off towards the soo on dirt.

Forgot to mention... the night before, shortly before i Swamped out in the water hole i saw a really nice camping spot, it was a little earlier than i had planned to set up camp and wanted to make more distance but it looked real nice.
So just as i was slowing down to turn around and have another look... i see a big black bear standing in front of me on the trail.... decision made, gas it and ride on by, I'm sleepin alone!

entering farm country

st joseph island for a bit of a tour... only rode about half the island but a really nice ride, will have to go back for the rest.

Watched a few ships go through the channel heading south out of lake superior.

then back up hwy 17 on sunday along superior and explored a few sideroads. Found some nice camping spots and some abandoned highway

manage to get way up to the top of montreal river harbour hill where there is a weather observation station, very steep dirt road, suprised a truck could even get up there, took a pic looking over the bay.

That first picture looks like you're taking camping lessons from HektoGlider!

You know that's an old highway, when the lines on it are white! Haven't seen them like that since the sixties.

Lmao, funny you say that ron, i had my eye on that van in the background if it would have been later in the day who knows.
Ya those white lines hold up well, they were in better shape in some places than the yellow ones on the current highway are.
