All you have to do after a down is roll it over easy 10 times with wide open throttle to clear it out, and then give it some good starting kicks.

I used to do it all the time on an XR 400.

Good job Than! I didn't know they were electric start. I'll have to go check the specs a little closer. Dual sport bikes are always about compromise, and I think 350cc is just about the perfect compromise between the weight and cc/performance battle. Farkels?

Yeah, the little DR is a bit of a cult classic. That pro cycle site has lots of goodies.

Fastdadio, thanks for those links. The one to the carb rebuild kit may come in handy, but one thing at a time.

I ordered a new (non-vacuum) petcock to avoid the "fuel in my motherfucking oil" problem colorfully ranted about on Facebook previously.

Today was spent at the SOS and going through all the neglected maintenance stuff.

New battery (could I for once buy a bike with a new or even working battery?!), air filter, blah blah.

Nice to see the DR has grease nipples in 4 different parts around the rear suspension. The KLR had none. You had to take the whole swingarm apart to grease all the pieces separately.

I should have the new petcock in early next week and then a quick oil change, fresh gas and a new plug later I'll be ready to ride!

Looks good Than. I'm jealous of your paintwork. I had to do some de-Barbie/Barney work. She's still showing a little purple under her skirt.

A picture from the Craigslist ad.

Next up, I'm going to replace the headlight with something that throws out more light than a cigarette lighter that is low on butane. I can't believe how bad it is.

Lemme know what you end up using, and how do you like the seat concepts seat?
