Picked it up today, but haven't ridden it yet. Maybe a spin to the Monastary tomoorrw night to shake it down.

Hijacking Rick's thread here.

Here's my plan next weekend (weekend of 20 June):

Friday - Leave after work from east valley, head towards Safford, camp somewhere along the Black Hills Back Country Byway (dirt, which I've never ridden) (about 30 miles outside of Safford, we'll be setting up in the dark)

Sat - Breaky in Clifton, ride up 191 () to Alpine for gas and maybe to meet some other folks and to eat some pie at the Bear Wallow Cafe. Then, head out Red hill road (dirt) to the Blue campground, along the blue river east of 191 (along the NM border). Camp for the night. I have many reports that this is a beautiful, stunning place to camp. Cook dinner at camp.

Sun - Into NM, down to Glenwood for Breakfast, and then head towards home, perhaps via 191, Show Low and Globe.

Anyone interested?

yeah, I am staying home this weekend to prep for next week. I plan to meet you in Alpine, going to leave early sat morning. I will have a more solid plan by the end of the week. I have also heard a lot of good things about the blue river should be a sweet ride. I might break off in NM for some other exploring and stay sunday night since I am off on Monday's. but that is the preliminary for me.

The Alpine/Blue River area sounds great, it's just a bitch getting two and from in the heat. I'm going to wait this out a bit before committing.

I think there will be at least one or two riders meeting me in Alpine on Saturday, which will allow an early morning exit from the valley, if you're interested in that. Otherwise, I'm not leaving the valley until Friday afternoon, so once we get to Globe the heat should be bearable.

This trip is growing on me. I haven't run up 191 in a couple of years. Is there flowing water at the campsite? Fishing? My dad gave my some fancy compact fishing gear as a birthday present that I never got a chance to use.

There *might* be, depending on how much runoff is left. You can't use live bait in the Blue, but it supposedly has trout in some parts, probably depends on how it's running.

Hope you can make it!

That is, if a arizona newcomber is welcome? I am in the high country-Pinetop to be exact. Haven't had much time to explore and this ride sounds fun and the riders sound even more "funner". Not sure of the logistics yet, as I will be in the vally thurs and fri taking contractor exams. May ride the bike down, then jion up with you all on the ride fri p.m. Other option will be to meet up with you on sat. We'll see.

If I were you, I'd just head out 260, unless you are already down here.

O.k.

Well,
I just found out the test will be thursday. Sooo, that means I'll meet up with you guys friday afternoon. Possibly at Globe, give me an e.t.a. and I will be there ahead of you so you don't have to wait! Other than that, I know being "the New Guy" means bringing the scotch so, how does 12 to 18 year old stuff sound?

Since your new, 12 years old is an insult to our palates. Something old enough to vote. If you really want to make an impression, something old enough to run for office.

You'd want to coordinate with the Codewheeny since he's cruise director for this ride. I probably won't make any serious commitments until Thursday.
