TKC80 in the wet

Hi All. So this weekend I'm heading on a ride to the west coast of the New Zealand's South Island. I've just had a new TKC80 fitted but the forecast is looking dodgy. Like really dodgy. Heavy rain is in the weather forecast for the whole weekend. I'm planning on doing as much dirt as I can, but for part of this trip there is only one road to take and its sealed. Will this front tyre kill me in the wet on the sealed parts of the ride?

I run a TKC80 Front on my KLX650R and find that it actually holds the seal a lot better in the rain than what i thought it would and would have no issues riding in the rain (as a note i ride in the Waikato area)

Hey Brendan. I'm based in Welly and I have ridden down south. On a trip around oz I used Tkc80's and they were exemplary in any conditions, 2up and fully loaded. I would personally have no probs with them.

I'm very confident with my TKC80's in all conditions.

First thing mate harden up we can't look like poofs in front of the yanks and international community

So, we live in Wanaka (in our abnormal life), I run TKC 80 with pleasure, actually in the wet they are bloody good with the softer compound.

Fear not mate just stay off the shiny patches and enjoy the ride.

Just watch paint lines...they will slide on those...otherwise, they're pretty great.

The ride went really good. It absolutely bucketed down with thunder and lightning over Arthurs pass. I've been doing this ride for years now and it was definitely the wettest I've been a in. Had no issues so am very happy. These tires are great

I agree with the others, TKC 80s are fine in heavy rain on pavement.

EDIT: Just saw the OP is already back from his trip! Oops! Oh well, glad it went well. Pictures?

Every Labour weekend (nz public holiday) there is street racing in greymouth. Stupid me forgot the camera so I only have some crappy phone pics from the ride over and none of the racing. I'll get some pictures of the racing from my mate and post them when I get home. I'll also post some pics from the ride taken from my phone. It's been a primo weekend and the weather is looking better for the ride home tomorrow, it's been snowing on the pass today so looks like we timed it pretty well!
