agreed. normally if you have access to water you would take a water filter and save tons of weight (although i stil wouldnt eat freeze-dried )
but if you have no water available en-route, the canned food will work out the same, probably taste better, and gives you a source of spare parts for repairing holes in mufflers.

lastplace,
man that's a bad screen name for someone running the Dakar. When I found out someone from San Francisco was running the Dakar, I now had a favorite rider. I can only dream of having the balls to even think of riding the Dakar. Good luck next year and watch out for those Asian girls on KTM's

So far its been running great and it is been bullet proof for 60.000Km.
Metzeler Karoo are the tires I use.
Now that's a horse of a different color! The rotor certainly looks the business, any noticeable improvement in performance?

Asian girls on KTMs?... you Bastard!
You have got to stop putting these little teasers in your sentences natester. I read it, multiple mental images caused an involuntary muscle response, I fell out of my chair onto my dog, Otis Redding, which, not liking surprises... promptly bit me.

Yes my dog really is named Otis Redding... He picked it out himself.

Agreed. they do have the hydrated stuff in pouch's too. makes for easier packing and less waste to haul out. but the Can reapair kit is a good idea.
Some of the new freeze drieds are not to bad " bout like tuna helper etc..." but up here we don't have any problems finding water. It's allot harder to stay dry.

gozell, sorry to see that. You look to be the perfect candidate for "Arch's" bedliner coating. I normally don't like this on an entire tank, but Arch just did his on the forward and lower sections. If you get a chance to search his posts, there are some pics of it post bedliner mod. Cheers, Mack
