I believe the rebuild kit for the clutch master is around $40-$50... After 5 yrs of service my 1st one failed, now rather than waiting I just periodicly rebuild it... It only takes about 5 minutes to swap out the old piston, a set of snap ring pliers are handy...

Just picked up this 2000 640 Adventure on Friday! My first KTM. I think it's going to be a hell of a lot of fun!

A lot for what you get Before ordering the new piston/seal kit check the bore. Mine lasted a long time but when it did fail it was actually the plating flaking off inside the cylinder, I have seen it the same on a couple of other 640's as well. You can only get the cylinder as a complete assembly with piston, lever etc.

Cheers
Clint

I didn't see any sign of the bore giving up but now I want to have another look. I didn't see any signs of the piston being done either but there's definitely air getting in by that route. I looked up the piston on Munn's and yes about $50

I've been wondering the same thing myself.

I noticed that the reccomended YUASA battery for the 640 has 135cca, but the battery for the 950 has 230cca and is only 5mm taller. Seems like things could be tweaked 5mm to accept the larger battery.

How long did the Oddessy last? My OEM Yuasa lasted till 2011 in my '04 SMC. YMMV The bike was ridden at least 5 days a week for over 75,000mi.I think that keeps the battery charged and cycled to make it last.

Looks like your missing a chain guard mounting screw...

I've had a good run out of the standard Yuasas. Current one must be 4 yrs old by now & still going strong. Conditions don't get stupid cold here but mine does often sit for a few weeks between uses.

It's pretty tight in that area. I got sold a 5-10mm taller batt by mistake a while back & looked at fitting it in anyway - it was going to take more than tweaking.

Cheers
Clint
