It's about crashprotectors for the bike. I've seen some posts on this subject on this thread a while ago. I'm having some made from polycarbon. That's very durable stuff, so I'm told. Much stronger than the carbon protectors you can buy for the LC8. The compagny that will make them is www.evamotor.nl. It's going to look something like this: http://www.evamotor.nl/Images/LC8_bodyprotect_poly2.jpg.
Well since you asked I guess I could mention that I asked BigTwin if he were interested in making some CF/Kevlar guards for the 640 like he did for the 950. I guess it would matter if there were enough 640 riders interested (and if he is at all...). From the threads on the 950 discussing them I would say they would be great (6 layers of CF/Kevlar?) - maybe more people should PM him?

I'd be interested, if they're GOOD (and I mean rock solid, so they don't break after one hit), provide good protection and aren't made of gold
So, for the right price and the correct material, I'd say yes...

BigTwin, wake up dude...

Many testimonials in the 950 forum for his work

How much was that set from Japan (that was only CF - no kevlar)?

And, last but not least, any commentary you would like to include. Keep it short if possible, no long boring "I was born a poor black child" stuff.
When this thread runs out of steam, we'll have a nice little semi-accurate list for reference.

If you don't have a photo at this time, you can always edit one in later.

Most of you have already seen my bike elsewhere, so I'll not subject you to more of the same shit.
Doesn't have to be a off road bike... a supermoto, a road racer, a chainsaw... if its LC4, it goes here!

Just saw this post, just joined the Adventure owners last Friday. 1999 - 6K miles. Very nice condition, will need a new rear tire by spring, needs a digital display - worst failing - if anybody know where to get replacements, I hear there are rebuilds somewhere in Louisianna, or if you have other knowledge on how to get this working, PM me.....The backlight powers up but there is no readout. Looks like mostly stock 1999 and I LIKE IT.

Welcome Infidel,

well you can join the cult if you get the Mikuni BST otherwise, good name, great avitar and fantastic bike! lots of ideas on tires, search around. IMO? Argh, those are pricey, look into the Touratech ones; you can upgrade while you are at it! Other than that someone might have other ideas.

Now as far as those tank guards here is that Japan info again:

http://www.ny.airnet.ne.jp/absolute/...parts/ktm.html

(can't get the other pic... sorry)

36,750 Yen ~ $347.84 USD (Dec. 14, 2004)
plus shipping from Japan... - I bet someone like BigTwin could do better if he wants and shows up again. Just adding in Kevlar for the same price or less is a big jump... Andrew at the Adv Workshop is looking into other sources (thanks A! )

Crashprotection

Well, here are some pictures of the protection that www.EVAmotor.nl made for me:

Interesting How much do they cost? How do they mount? What kind of material. This could be the answer?

Oh and welcome to ADVrider

Yes, how do they mount? You could also bend aluminum and mount it the same way.

Looks like two-sided foam tape on the leading edge....
