Lower Passenger Footpegs

Took the wife on a long(er) ride this past weekend and while the bike handled great two issues were quite apparent.

1. The stock seat sucks donkey balls. Easily fixed by one of the many options discussed here (Renazco, AirHawk, etc..)

2. My wife (who is all of 5 feet tall) complained that her knees were sore at the end of the day. She is of the opinion that if the passenger pegs were lower she would be much happier.

So, in hopes of maintaining the peace and making everybody as comfortable as possible does anyone make a set of lower (passenger) pegs for this thing? (2004 950A)

I was going to be a smart ass and tell you get a shorter wife - but it doesn't look like that's an option.

You'll need to fab up your own peg lowers. There aren't any made specifically for the 950 and there won't be because there isn't any demand for it. I've seen such things on K1200LT's, but never anything like the 950.

If you go down this path, remember that they'll need to be able to hold up your wife's entire weight without cracking.

Depending on how you deal with the saddle, you might get her another inch or so of knee room by raising her section of the seat. But depending on how this is done and what you require of the seat, you might end up with too much of a slope from rear to front. She'll be fighting against sliding into you all day.

Looks like there will be a negotiation.

I expected that to be the case. Just curious if anyone else had home-made solution. I have already mentioned to her that a different seating option might address the issue.

I know the SV guys use Buell Footpegs to gain some legroom. You might look into something along these lines.

I want my pillon pegs higher - the law here states that your pillion must be able to sit on the seat with both feet on the pillon pegs to legally ride on the back - my daughter is 2.. I want to raise the pegs

In all seriousness, if your wife is 5ft and you put an air hawk on for her, it will raise the seat/lower the pegs...

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO - what a ride!"
