Yeah, I just replaced mine in my 04, its been dead for a long time.
It was about $100 genuine but took about 4 weeks to get.
When you take the left tank off, its the only pair of wires that go to the tank (950), make sure the connector hasnt come unplugged.
The circuit is normally open so if it s disconnected you wouldnt know, it just wont work and no red light.

Need to get seat redone - anyone in oz?

Hi people - the low gel seat on my 04 950 ADV just can't support the weight of my 105 kilo fat arse anymore - can anyone recommend someone in oz to modify it? I considered a renazco but the waiting list is months. I'm going to ride from Darwin to Broome via the Gibb in July & don't want to do half the ride standing up!

Cheers

Used TuneECU to load the R Akro map to my std 2011 ABS Adventure (has Akros), you can really notice the increase in the top end!

No not really, I got 265km to the tank on the weekend, 80/20 offroad/road, and I wasn't holding back in the dirt, which is about normal.

Eeeked out 46km to home with the low fuel light on, I haven't filled it up yet, but reckon it will almost be empty.

Usually my range is between 260 and 310km, depending if I'm riding in the dirt, or just highway cruising at the speed limit.

The R map is only different in that the secondary throttle butterflies are set to open to 100% at high RPM, giving you more top end (12 extra HP from memory).

So if you are just cruising, you are riding in the exact same map parameters that were in the std map with Akros.

PS. Leave the 02 sensors enabled for best economy.

If anyone has an 09-10 990, they should be dumping the 11 map into it to smooth out the throttle response. KTM have sorted the map out from 11 onwards. The 12 models run the same map as the 11's.

Pre 09 bikes ran different cams, so you can't use the 11 on map on those. But there are other tweaked maps out there for the earlier bikes that improve them, some are available on the Tuneecu web site.

The only difference engine wise between an ABS 990 with the low suspension, and an R model is the Map loaded on the ECU.

As you can see, it's a bit wider where you sit, but still narrow for standing.
A bit of a fiddle to fit, but I only had a cheap staple gun.
It even helps take out some of the small bumps normally sent through the seat.
