Wondered if you would regret getting rid of her mate.. I thought it was the perfect bike to carry around a big bloke like yourself to be honest.. You could always look around for another I guess..

Joe
It started of life as an AJ's plastics screen, 150mm higher than standard. I just chopped it down bit by bit untill it was the right hight for me, about 75mm off.
I then used the trusty old heat gun to bend a lip at the top. If I was to do it again I would start the lip a bit lower than than the first effort.

Too easy

which is exactly why mine will remian mine. every time i've flirted with flogging the thing to get an se i get real cold feet.

you have the perfect solution nev

besides i reckon the best models are the first ones - thereon they lowered em and stuck all sorts of breakdown gear upon them (= efi, abs etc.)

Glad im not the only rude prick unable to type in hysterics, it looks like its just been dropped from the rooftop above, and what the hell is laced on the front rim, or is that just another rear rim up the front,in fact which way does this bike go?
Whats with the seat, under what circumstances would one find ones self sitting up at that end - on that angle? is that legal? or even possible?,
am i doing all this wrong, do our legs go over the bars before touching the pegs?.
The front forks looks like I did as a school boy with skinny white legs ,shorts and long socks !!
Im ok now, seriously Im not posting this , im deleating it right now, its just too rude to post.

I work on 550kms offroad and 650kms on road. I have got 730kms on the black stuff but I was taking it easy. The worst range I had off road was 427kms with about 2 litres left in the tanks and a brand new Dunlop 908 rear that was shagged. Unfortunatley I can't afford to ride like that all the time.

How much difference do the big tanks make to the handling?

Nev you will be pleased to know I've sown the thought with the BOSS about a new 950s or maybe a se if you can get big tanks for the se.Still keep the sxc.

Oh and the suggestion didn't fall flat - so there may be hope for me yet.

Just got a quote from teknik motorsport:

$680 + parts to increase suspension travel from 230mm standard to 265mm "S" model spec.

Includes shock & fork rebuild, oil, springs, but does not include the other bits you need from KTM thats missing in the standard model. apparently another $200 or so in parts.

So for about $900 you can get S model suspension on your standard 950.

I'll probably want to have a go on someones S model to determine if its too high or not.

Don't worry if its too high it is very simple for them to lower to a suitable height for yourself .

At first i noticed the extra girth and wieght but after the first ride I was pretty much used to it. The front forks could use some stiffening up or more travel for going hard offroad, but for touring they work fine. I can't go back to the limited range of the original tanks after using the safari's for a while now.
