5 day trip to Norway. (Pictures > Text)

5 day trip to Norway. Rain, rain, sun, snow, sun.

DAY 1. Borås, Sweden -> Stavsberg, Norway. (510km/317 miles)
Transportation on boring roads, not much to say. RAIN.

DAY 2. Stavsberg, Norway -> Åndalsnes, Norway. (310km/193 miles)
E136 between Dombås and Åndalsnes is a beautiful road. Sadly no pics, to much rain. But it's in a valley and when you get closer to Åndalsnes there are many waterfalls on both sides of the road.
In the evening we went to Trollstigen (Wiki), and the rain was pouring down.

Riding down Trollstigen.

Pic from the bottom.

Pic from the campsite. (Åndalsnes camping).

DAY 3. Åndalsnes -> Atlanterhavsveien -> Geiranger (350km/220 miles)
A trip to Atlanterhavsveien (Wiki). It was raining, and it was cold. And it was not too much to see, not going there again. When we got back to Molde the rain stopped, at last.

Panorama. Atlanterhavsveien.

Not so much to see.

Waiting for the ferry to unload in Molde. (~ 30 minute trip to the other side)

View from road number 650.

What a view.

Panorama.

Cabin for the night. (In Geiranger)

And the view.

Drivable section of the original Geiranger Road that opened in 1889.

View straight down.

Pic of the Geriangerfjord in the evening. What a place

DAY 4. Geiranger -> Geilo. (410km/255 miles).
Long day, windy roads. 10 hours riding. Snow in the morning when we got up to Dalsnibban. Then when we got to Lom the sun was out. There we decided to take road 55 that runs beside Jotunheimen (Wiki). Up there in the cold skiers were training, yep. And did I say it was cold?

After a 20-30 minute trip on a windy road from Geiranger. (Cold, and it was snowing).

Where we came from.

Road55 (Jotunheimen).

Road 55. One minute it looks like this.

And 30 minute later it's this:

Waiting to pay for the ferry to cross the fjord, to get to Laerdalstunneln (Wiki). 24,5km long road tunnel (longest in the world?). No pics from there.

After the tunnel we took road 50. And after some strange corkscrew tunnels up the mountain this was the view.

Up in the cold again (Third time that day). Road 50.

DAY 5. Geilo -> Borås, Sweden. (600km+/370 miles+)
Weather forcast showed that more rain was coming, so we decided to get back home when the sun still smiled at us.

View from the cabin the last night. Hope you enjoy the pics.

Very Nice!

Impressive pics, I like the views of Norway. I have actually been visiting Andalsness area couple times some years back for hiking/mountaneering. One spot to recommended is The Troll Wall, not too far away from that route, it is spectacular, massive "mile high" wall, illegal to base jump, but every summer there are some.
The wall can be seen in good weather from below, by the road side parking lot. Or if time allows, find small road on the oppisite side of the walley, ride up and small walk to "half way high" view to the wall.

Wow, cool ride. That's quite an awesome highway, I believe the golden highway? Have been there a few times but not on a bike, that would be awesome! My avatar pic was taken just a few miles away flying in Vågå at midnight.

Amazing pictures, wow...and it looks like the roads are in good shape.

The saying goes: First God created the country than the Norwegians built the roads.

Thanks for giving us a small taste.
