Pelican...

So, in the end, how the Pelican performed? I noticed that you took off handles and wheels.

The weight without foam is 14.5 lbs. How much they weighted after stripping them?

i was going to try and use the beemer mounts that came with the bike but they suck so i built my own. $10 in steel tubing, 18 hours of time and some beer....
ok, alot of beer

they are tough as hell so far. They are Tim Horton Tested Tough

I would give a left nut to come down under and ride someday. Ya'll got beer down there?

The Pelicans have about 18,000 miles on them now. they have been down on both sides. I think IBM kicked the kickstand out from under it at tim Hortons if the truth were to be known !! ....prick !
i would not hesitate to buy the pelicans again! they are tough as hell and are still water tight and the hinges are bulletproof. they are scuffed and beaten but for that kind of money, if they fell off tomorrow, I'd buy another set. Maybe the bigger ones tho. ( i carry alot of shit ). i would not buy the side opening ones. i will stay with the top loaders forever. you can mash more shit in them and sit on the lid to get it to close .
as far as the weight of them after i cut all the bullshit off??? i dunno. I might have shaved a pound off each??

Terrific photos and an excellent read. Thanks guys. I figured out that titty stands for:

Tires In The Tundra, Yippe!

My wife keeps saying, yeah, we can do that. Did you see anyone two up on the way?

Great Stuff!

Thanks!

We did see a pair of UBER-BMW riders; both riding 2-up, completely decked out in everything the BMW catalog had to offer (well I'm just guessing on the BNW thongs... but given everything else they had on, my money is on, "If it doesn't have a roundel on it, they wouldn't wear it... lol)

We leap frogged with them for a day or two, and know they were supposed to be heading for Prudhoe... but last saw them in the Yukon somewhere... so who knows how far they made it.

LADIES & GENTLEMEN: Now that we're at 203K+ views, I took a second to rack & stack the ride report folder by views, and this thread is now officially the 20th most-read thread ever (non-sticky).
I'm sure it is more for the name than the riding... it's all about the marketing!
Thanks to all who keep reading and bringing it back to the top, allowing us to keep reliving the moment... glad you enjoy the read!!

Just to jump in here; Lots of people do it 2up. The roads, except for the haul road and a few brief cconstruction zones are in great shape and won't be a problem for you. Come on up and enjoy, Bear

Ps, No whining.

Hey, thanks!

I believe that the ones you have are the biggest top loader from Pelican. I'd consider a bigger side opening one as a top case.

I think the way you guys did the narrative, in a very humorous way, keeps the reader waiting for another of those moments that makes you laugh and wanting to read more. It was fresh and entertaining, specially food pictures, bear pictures and last but not least, the main caracters are quite a "caracter". Of course, the marketing is important and once you bite the hook, you're in!!! Though crowd here, but won't think it twice in considering riding with you guys!!!

Congratulations!
