Got it all ...

Great thread, guys. For us newbies it's fun to live vicariously -- Thanks! Looks like your bikes have almost the full spectrum of luggage systems (except Micatech's). Any thoughts on which ones work best for trips like this? Looking forward to reading about the rest of the trip.

I've got the Hepco-Becker Aluminum Exclusives. I really like IBM's Jesse's though. If they had had a mounting setup for the Capo I would probably have opted for those.

I like my Jesses... they can take a beating. I do need to get a rubber mallet and do some beating on them; they got pretty beat up on my Death Valley trip and are a bit tweaked.

WTF's Pelicans with homemade mounts are pretty bulletproof and a whole lot cheaper!

Along the road to Salmon GLacier, you actually cross back into Canada.

One thing I never knew is that they completely clear-cut the border. Hard to tell in the photo, but this is actually a pretty much sheer cliff with trees growing on it... and someone had to repel down it to cut all the trees.

The other direction

After the ride, it was time to find some chow! One of the mandatory stops in Hyder (OK, that is a pretty short list), is eating seafood at the bus! Unfortunately, we got there just as they were closing up shop... but they were nice enough to give us some sort of cold salmon/pasta salad that was AWESOME! And they were nice enough to give it to us for the price of a tip for the waitress!

So we headed over to Stewart. I can't remember the name of the palce we decided on (again, not many choices)... but it was a pretty fu-fu place! The look WTF got when he asked if they had french fries was priceless!

I got some sort of halibut...

We were definitely underdressed for the occasion... lol

We didn't get too early a start for day 5... and were planning on heading to Swift River today. Here we are rolling out @ 0900.

Then a stop @ bear glacier for a few more pics

And then we're off...

A couple of horses hanging out in the road

Entering Yukon!

We arrived in Swift River at about 8-9, to find it to be a one horse (OK, 2 dog) town...

the motel was full of highway construction workers, so we had to saddle back up and head another 60 miles down the road.

We arrived in Teslin around 10, and the entrance to town is one of the squirrliest metal grate bridges I've ever ridden on! What a way to close day 5!

For chuckles... here are a couple pics of WTF & me near the same spot overlooking Salmon Glacier back in '05... the year we did the 48++ together.

Here are a couple of Ron Ayers boys who hauled ass up past us on the way up... only for one of them to run out of gas!
Luckily WTF let them borrow a siphon hose.

That metal bridge freaked me out too!!!! You'll have few more of them before it's over and some of the wooden planked ones can be just as squirrelly. Enjoying the report.

not sure if that one was so bad on the way up because we were running 2 different tires (TKC on the front, Tourance on the rear) because it didn't seem quite as bad on the return trip, with TKC on front/rear.
