It was a kick in the ass! 1200 miles in 10 days... from the ocean to 13,000', temps from high 30s to a heat index of over 110.

so now we come to a fork in the road. I hate this part of the story.
The GPS is grinding down the miles until Tim and i go left and Mike goes right. I fell in behind mike and we floated thru the corners like a couple of faggish tandom skaters in a gay mens only tandom skating event, Yeah, that kind of synchronism...... . We done it for thousands of miles in the past and this was just like the way its supposedd to be while riding with a great riding partner. I pulled around Mike and rolled into a corner a mile before the turn. I backed out of the throttle and let him pull up beside. I extended my left hand out as he pulled up. there is no need to even look as in a few seconds my knuckles are being blasted by his. Its our thing to let each other know that its all good and it was fun and I'm looking forward to when he gets cut loose from the Air Force again and we can get the pavement under our bikes once again.
Mike rolled ahead and my GPS is telling me that in 400 feet i need to turn left. I saluted Mike and hit the blinker. Tim rolled in behind me and gave mike the wave too. He flashed a few final pictures off and I turned into a new chapter of our journey. Im not ashamed to say i did that turn with a huge lump in my throat.
Great riding partners are hard to find.

All right, slow day at work, so I just read this entire thread... and of course this post got me all misty-eyed and shit.

First, yes, we suck and haven't done shit in our LTT thread... Maybe we'll have to get that rolling since there's no riding


7 months in to a 12 month tour in Afghanistan... been too damn long since I rode and this thread has me missing the wind in my face.

DAMN... checked the stats , this thread is at 412K+ hits... the 11th most read thread in ride reports!
