Overnight Woodenbong ride 15-16 August

I have been on this site for a while and haven't posted any rides so thought it was about time. I have posted this up nice and early to give interested riders plenty of notice and time to plan. Okay here are the details...

Day 1 - Saturday 15 August

Meet at Shell Mango Hill 7.00am, ride out at 7.30am.

Ride will head through Samford, Mt Glorious, Fernvale, Amberley, Ripley, Boonah, Maroon Dam, Condamine Gorge, Killarney, Urbenville, Woodenbong.

Approximately 380ks for the day and plan to arrive before dark so those camping can get set up in the daylight.

For those wanting to join in at Samford and/or Amberley we can stop at the Caltex Samford (approx 8.00am) and BP Amberley (approx 9.00am - 9.30am)

Day 2 - Sunday 16 August

The second day will kick off from Woodenbong around 8ish from where we will head through the Toonumbah National Park, Border Ranges National Park, Tyalgum, Hinze Dam, Mt Tamborine and finishing at Beenleigh where riders can head their own way.

About 270ks for this day and aiming to finish mid-arvo

Accommodation

The two options are:

Camping: $5 per night with coin operated showers. This is in the showgrounds a short walk from the pub.

Pub: I have to confirm the tariff but they have a variety of room options from shared to ensuite doubles. Once I have an idea of who might want to come and needs a room I can book them. They have an excellent bistro and also provide a light breakfast as part of the deal.

Suitable bikes and numbers

This ride is probably best suited to 600cc and up, including the big boppers. Your bike needs to be able to handle sitting on a 100kph comfortably during the tarmac stretches. There will be at least 50% dirt with some creek crossings so some confidence in these conditions would be beneficial especially if you are on a big bike. Having said that this will not be a gnarly ride aimed at breaking bike and rider.

There will be a good variety of surfaces including dirt roads, forest trails, and windy bitumen (plus a few boring hwy stretches). A 200km fuel range will be plenty.

I think probably 15 riders would be a comfortable max, with no minimum (I will be going regardless of how many join me)

No doubt I have missed something so please let me know if you have any questions.

Cheers
Jason

G'day Troops. Most welcome. I'll post a list in the near future and work out who wants to camp or pub stay.

Sucks when that happens. Tony who runs Woodenbong Pub has been great from my experience.
