Suspension linkage failure

The sleeve that goes through the linkage to the swingarm on mine was so tight in the bearing, that I had to knock it out with a hammer and the needle rollers scored it on the way out.

While its apart check the castings of the linkage as they are stretching, causing the holes to oval which pinches the bearings. If this is the case then its a new linkage.

You are spot on there Beaney. That appears to be what's happened to mine.

I take it this happens when the suspension has been bottomed mercilessly?

Don't suppose warranty will cover it?

Not a lot of meat surrounding the bearings

Any of you guys with 690's (or 990's for that matter) use TuneECU to remap? A lot of the latest Akro maps are available on their web site - all you need is the correct cable (purchaseable online), the software is free. http://www.tuneecu.com

I've used it with the 690SM that I had but haven't tried it with the 2012 as a few things were changed and not sure if it's compatible or not?

My muffler arrived yesterday (opted for the Wings) so I guess I'll find out...

I asked this same question in the 990 thread awhile ago but no responce, so I too am keen to hear from anyone that has tried this. My bike, a Kato 990, was improved out of sight by having the correct mapping applied to it due to the Wings mufflers fitted by the previous owner.
