B2 Am I allowed to talk tyres ?
Hi all, Thanks B2 for asking the tire question and everyone for all the good feed back. Will give some of them a look. Been trying a few different tyres as well trying to find ones that I can maybe run on a ktm450 and then finish them off on the 690 (dreaming I know) Dunlop 908RR 18x140 guess @3000km or more 50/50 used on dirt/pavement V/G (not good in mud) 690only Bridgestone ed11 front good, done @3500km all sorts of roads/dirt/mud holding up well it even started life on the ktm450 for about 4 rides. Will run again. Maxxis dualmax M7000 18x120/100 100% off road dot legal @ 2300 km rear 50/50 used on dirt/pavement (long hot HWY) around the Darling river very good. Have a Dunlop 952 18/120 on at the moment 3/4 left when fitted did a @250km run nice but I don’t think it will last long ![]() Going to try the Maxxis maxxcross IT M7305 120/100x18 on the 690 next currently on the 450 holding up well after 4 rides. 2) get a good skid plate: recommend the G-it skid plate which has rear master protection too 3) Kickstand elimination switch 4) lower cooling fan switch and radiator guard. 5) sock style pickup filter for pump...if they are still available.

HI ALL
well i had my first PITA on the 690 today, having a nice easy ride in mt mee,the 690 stalled with a loud "POP" and a PSHHHHHHH, the sound came from under the air box area,so i had a good look around only to find the rubber boot had came away (see pic) and also the airbox was pushed back towards the battery ![]() bike is a 2012,with less than 2000ks with a akro slip on inc akro mapping. 1, so what would make this happen, 2, is there a fix for this, cos i dont want it to happen again (PITA) 3, has there been a recall for this ![]() thanks guys mickd

Hey mick
it happened to me but not since they put anew throttle body on under warranty - the fueling system is soooo temperamental on these things it sounds as if this maybe one of the changes to the 13 model

Looks like your boot is not seated properly. Loosen both clamps and psh the tb and boot back into position...then tighten the clamps.
edit: little slow...guessing there was an "event" that popped it apart such as a backfire. See that enough others have posted by now.
