There would maybe be other places on the bike - but under the tank is not one of them-the tool tube is pretty big-I am asuming were talking the RR tool tube

You will prob end up getting racks anyway it supports the rear of the bike gives hand holds for pulling and pushing and very good for attaching panniers to

I was thinking maybe you could even modify one of the Rally-Raid engine toolbox mounts to hold a tool tube, not sure if there's enough room.

Yep - could attach to frame somehow- could desighjn frame coming down from the tank bolt holes over the rear but if you were going to do that you would be better off using storm water tube with screw tops then could make it sized to the exhaust more and would fit loads of gear in it

Tool Tubes on a KTM Pannier rack here:
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=17254142&postcount=2606

Drainage tube as tool tubes on a Touratech rack here:
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=17333523&postcount=2624

Whichever way you need racks, in my opinion the Touratech ones offer better support removing stress from the tank. They are cheaper overseas but once you get around the ban on international shipping and the freight costs, as they are bulky, you might as well buy locally from Touratech Aus. About $500.

but what about that big hole in the middle Andy you have to buy base plates if you want to put anything on them e.g rotopax ,smaller soft overnight panniers etc where as the RR are solid pre drilled and more sleek for no luggage just a day ride - each to there own hey - the touratech ones do have the cross brace round the back where as the RR dont

Nope , KTM 450RR tanks. 690RR fairing KTM 450RR seat , so as close as you can get to a genuine Rally

The RRUk tank are great but I still was not happy , I love the 690RR & the 450RR and I would never be happy until a genuine or a ktm parts bin copy. At twice the price of RRUk it not for every one ( nor me being unemployed)

I,m selling off all the RRuk tanks , rally seat , hard parts gel seat , Ti Akro system , see flea market
