KTM Twins is the same story but even longer !!
Anybody want to sell me their spare ??
I have to have the bike running in two weeks !
Andy
Good indication that it's a fuel pump issue.

I'll check my 2nd hand one out and if it looks OK, you're welcome to use it.

Thanks Splinter picked up a pump today for $150 incl and that is express post delivered, as they are $129 in the USA anyway I reckon that is a bloody good price. So I must recommend "Brad at Bikeboy in Victoria 03 9563 2004. Well worth carrying a spare pump at that price.

Andy - so was that tempting fate? Or taunting it?

Sorry to hear of your breakdown. I have an OEM pump spare (I installed the CW pump and carry the OEM) for future reference if required.

I was going to get a spare pump anyway this payday and as the bike is still under warranty I will diagnose the issue and if it is the pump see if I can get a genuine new one on warranty and keep my spare, not sure if they can argue "fair wear and tear" after 20000kms. Will see. Andy

speedo

what about swapping yours here with someone with about 20 000ks on it?

someone gets a new speedo and you get yours with the roughly correct amount of ks????

I found Otto Instruments in Brisbane, but they want $370 to add the Ks to it.

I wouldn't be concerned about a brand new speedo, but I intend to sell the bike and it would look dodgy with oooooks. Anyone know any other way to add ks to the speedo?

Gil.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO - what a ride!"

KTM can set the new speedo to the correct KLM's. They did for me when they replaced mine under warranty. shouldn't cost you anything extra. You might have to do it through a dealer though.

Well fuel pressure was good only problem is it just decided to start, bastard KTM, so looks like I have a 690 "shutting down in the bush problem" , I bet Joe has cursed me.
Now I have to go through everything.
Just to be safe I thought I'd check the sparkplug, coil earths and connections and all seemed good so it looks like I will clean the injector anyway just in case and with the airbox off have a bloody good look around everything.
The dreaded curse of the 690 FI / electrical gremlins.

Lynx Fairing

Has anyone fitted one of these fairings, and given it a caning over hard roads / trails?

If so, any impressions re' durability?

And likewise re' amount of protection it offers - for example, how much better than the hard parts screen?

Lynx

We ran 3 x Lynx fairings across from Perth to Noosa and all 3 broke the ABS dash where it folds from the triple clamp mounting. Ian from Lynx is really apologetic and sent new dash's and made a SS stiffening plate on the newer ones. He said Australians are the only ones that have had issues, probably our corrugations. One broke the clear screen after a mid speed get off on the Gun Barrel hwy as they stick up above the main body by about 2 inches and get caught easily. Lynx has a new style out that all these issues have been addressed and they look a little different. They are good and the HID lights are awesome but the balasts weigh a bit and add to the vibration and cracking issues. I would buy one but I just bought the Evo2 kit for my new 690 as I like the rally look and need a bit more room to add more junk (road book etc) The adjustable wind screen works well.
