A tip when changing brake fluid
Bleeding the fluid through doesn`t get rid of whats in the caliper . Best to open the bleeder then push the piston back ,close bleeder , pump lever , top up fluid then repeat .

I spoke to Terry Hay at shock treatment yesterday about getting some work done, he is familiar with the 690 it seems as he told me straight up what needs to be done for my needs.
I have to do it, big erosion mounds never used to slow me down so much!
now to find the time to get up there.. and I haven't been to the big smoke in ages

My guess is that there will be a bunch of KTM's with 690 motors as before and some Husky's with 690 motors (and WP suspension, etc.) all with the same gas tanks and frames. Kinda of like the car mfg. do it, although its harder to see what's underneath with the cars.

I think you'll be gad you did it ...

Terry's got a good system for the 690s - and he's got a little test track there that you can ride on before and after ...

He'll do it within a day, which I opted for - took the laptop and worked out of a café in Mulgoa, a few mins up the road ...

Once you get there, it doesn't feel like Sydney at all - cattle and horses, and bush on all sides - nice spot ...

I've posted this on the Wunderfest forum as well:

Does anyone know whether an older 690 seat pan with a single front support cam be fitted to a 2012 690 whose OEM seat pan has the paired front support?

Older seat pictured:

they do fit, ive done it, the only risk you run is an increased chance of cracking the older model seat, im sure thats the reason they added the second support stop.

Thanks - good to know.

I've been looking for a second seat (I don't like the Seat Concepts adaptation for offroad riding - too wide and flat), and an 09 has popped up - can see there are differences in the pan.

I have the Seat Concepts seat already - I like it for cruisey rides where you're sitting a lot, but otherwise too wide and flat - I don't want to bugger up the Seat Concepts seat in any way - would rather have a second seat pan that I can put the OEM foam and cover on and use in reserve for more gnarly stuff.

I can understand where you are coming from hoots being a short ass (5'8) with a seat concepts. Great seat and Im glad I got it, but the width has me reaching for the ground in the tight stuff.
If it doesn't work out for you, let me know
btw im booked in with Terry Hay mid next month. cant wait, Long boring drive via Canberra though !

I find the Seat Concepts seat fine if just sitting still - as you do on open gravel roads etc ...

But it's like a shiny flat plank, and that feels very odd when getting up and down a lot and trying to push the bike around - and as you say, the width of the seat pushes your legs apart and makes the bike feel a lot taller - side by side, it's not as tall as the 450 - but feels taller when seated on it ...

When I first sat on the new seat (15,000km ago) I knew it would eventually become annoying ...

Two seats will work well I think ...

Recommend the café at Mulgoa, up the road from Shock Treatment ...
