Hdog, There is better places to place a filter than where EL Plonko has his. A metal bodied filter right next to the exhaust pipe is just asking for a fuel vapor lock.
Just my 2c worth.

Yeh thanks for the input guys. It's got RR tanks on it so there are fuel lines already running along the frame. I may be able to find a spot for an external filter. If not what do you think of a profill pump sock and a filter back inside the tank. Will the sock lengthen the filter life or is its purpose just to stop debri from getting to the pump. I've been stranded on my previous bike , husky 610 which runs the same pump as the 690 ,so I'd like to try for a preventative fix....

Yeh mine has been successful, I did think I had vapourlock issues at one stage but it turned out not to be the cause.
I have rotated the filter bracket slightly inwards since the photo so there is quite some air between it and the exhaust. I like it there for ease of replacement. EFI systems running at 50 PSI shouldn't get vapour lock according to cyberspace.

I have the profill filter on my pump inlet and I always refuel through a Mr Funnel Filter which prevents water and dirt getting in the tanks. I change both the Profill filter and Canam external filter every service and also now have the injector professionally cleaned every 15000km.

I PM'd you my complete build thread and EFI Idiots guide details.

Andy

just changed my inline filter (standard factory one) in the tank and fitted a profill on the end of the pump - the amount of black monkey shyte in the filter was amazing (I cut it open for a look).

I have the exact filter setup as El Ponkin and have never had an issue. Can't recommend to remove the internal one or leave it the same but i'm happy with how mine has worked out.

Thanks guys for all your advise, I can sort this now I am clearer...

Off topic. I was having a chat with Craig Hartley at the Sydney bike show, whilst looking at his 700 adv. I really like the tanks on it. Very well made out of thick thick plastic ... I asked if they would be available as a seperate purchase...he said quite possible in the near future..so another fuel tank option ,,,soon..

The set up with their tanks is really clever as the mount points allow for expansion, something that always was a pain on the safari tanks on the 950/990. The 700RR is certainly well thought out and put together very well indeed.

For those whom want more filtration here's my solution
It is an Aeroflow 30micron FI filter
It will replace the quick disconnect

I'll have to hunt around but should be able to get 10micron but 30 ,60,&100 are standard

Rally Raid

Anyone know if Rally Raid has a distributer in Aust. Interested in the bash plate with the water container because of the ability to mount their centre stand.
