Hey Podge.....I just know I'll be the bloke who gets lost and breaks down at the end of the day. and I've got a little bit of riding to do either side of the apc.

I just realised the finke is a week after the apc and I've got to get my bike back to the west somehow........

and the lights are cool

Are you going to Alice? If you do will catch up at prologue.

I haven't decided yet on the finke
I just need to either arrange for a few more easy jobs for the blokes
while I'm away....or tell them to have couple of weeks off.

I think I've got the missus squared away though, and one shouldn't
waste those opportunities.

And while I'm wasting my time this find Sunday morning, does anyone
have a solution for either of the following yet :

wider gearbox ratios
more rideability under 3000rpm

Inventing and fixing in the shed is very important work.
It must never be interrupted unless food is offered.

How about using the different gears from the rally gearbox.

Just like to say this about my bike...

I'm loving it baby!!

Suspension is just about 95% sorted front and rear.

Motor is one of the best I've ever owned.

I just enjoy getting on it and up it whenever I can

So there

ps this post isn't directed at you Podge..I know you're over them

I've used 16:44 gearing for a year or so now, and doubt I'll ever go back to stock

The lower gears feel more useable on open fire trails - change into 6th at 100kph on gravel, and around 5,000rpm - floats along at 120kph without any effort at all (and good economy)

The width of the gearbox feels good now, which makes me wonder whether it was really designed for the Duke (which I think runs 16:40 standard) - whatever, the bike no longer feels like a DRZ on steroids

I run it in sport mode everywhere - would probably change things around if the switch was mounted on the bars

You're a better man than me Hoots. That sports mode is like turning your bike into a CR500 with a pipe

I have mine on the softest setting to match my .....

The earlier models I think lost full power on the softer settings whereas the 2012 didn't

Rally raid fuel range

Hi there,

Could anyone tell me the approximate fuel range of the 690 with the full Rally Raid EVO1 setup and the RR rear tank??

Cheers,

if you know how many litres that comes to in total, just
average 7.5 litres / 100 kms for hard riding,
5 litres / 100 kms for gentle riding,
and 6.5 average use

Just spent twenty drunken (it is hump day and) minutes typing extremely enlightened and subtle humour into this tiny little children's laptop with it's novelty size keyboard buttons....only to look up from the keyboard to see it was all somehow invisible.

Anyway, it was all about how in 4 years ktm will build a 65hp perfect lightweight single adv bike because of all the profits they make in their Indian bike factory experiment........and how I'm interested in Hondas rumoured lightweight africa twin (sound familiar........690adv anyone)...but not anymore....because.....

Anyway, did i mention that it's hump day? and none of this matters because my wife loves adv bikes (and has a dr650 all suited up) and she's got great boobs!!!!

woohoooo

got to love hump days

and there's not enough ktm690 posts on all of the interwebs
