Make him go back to Hardmans.
Surely the price didn't stop you.....
My memory is hazy, but I reckon you've got a spare rally faring...
Or have you used it already?

fuel range on rally raid evo 1

[QUOTE=Davel1001;24100242]Hi there,

Could anyone tell me the approximate fuel range of the 690 with the full Rally Raid EVO1 setup and the RR rear tank??

Cheers,

Mate - El Ponkin may back me up on this from our set ups full evo 1 projects, from full I just run the rear on fairly hard going, till the reserve light comes on between 200-220klms, turn the front tanks on and get at least another 200+ klms before the light comes on again.....and still have at least 50-60klms left, so easily 450klms, never needed to stretch it to the end....so not quite sure..
Hope that helps
Cheers
Catman

Thanks ktmpunter, i've just got mine and haven't had a chance to test the range out yet.

Another question while I've got you here, what is the lead off the battery that ends in the square and round electrical connector, with the red tape on the end of it??

Total Fuel capacity is 22.5 litres with Evo 1 tanks and my 2011 bike consumption varies from 20km per litre on BP Ultimate in reasonable going down to about 14km per litre on standard unleaded in sand. I run an FMF Apex Pipe and KTM Evo Open airbox lid.

Not sure what your battery lead is unless its a left over on a second hand bike could be a battery tender charging connector.

during one day in the Safari in 2011 running a full rear tank and the EVO1 tanks full I made 300km and was at the very bottom of both tanks. I was running for extended periods of 160km/h in loose sand. I was running a modified EFi program as well...so whatever that works out to might be a good base line for minimum mileage to expect

I have the front and rear RR tanks with 12+9+9. I have got 240 out of the main tank and so that would suggest 600 out of all tanks. When I get the fuel light on I still have a lot of fuel on board, possibly about 8 l. How far you will get sand will depend on how you ride. Elplonkin wil get a lot less than me but he saves on front tyre wear.

240km from the main is pretty good.
My fuel light comes on at 180 or less and takes about 10l to fill from there.
Akra map, wings pipe with db killer and evo airbox lid.
I have had it go to 200km before fuel light comes on, but I must have been taking it real easy on the twisty thing.

Hi El Pokin. I run a FMF Apex as well, i find it too loud. Which way do you run yours with the tapered collar, and do you find yours too loud ?

When I put my Starcom comms in the helmet the exhaust would trigger the microphone all the time, I had the mike desensitized but ended up putting the tapered collar in the FMF and it took the bite out of the bark and stopped it interfering with the comms.
Lots of people have said it is nowhere near as annoying to follow me as it was before and I haven't noticed any loss of power.

Yep all the time. I reckon it's the plastic bit the bulb sits in shaking constantly in the headlight housing.
I caught mine just before the bulb blew once, the end of the metal part inside the bulb bent down and nearly touched the glass. The next day it fell off and put a hole in the globe and now rattles around inside the headlight housing.
I have had some success packing the plastic bit out with thick double sided tape and plumbers tape. Sorta works ok, much less vibration.

I'm wondering if the 2012 engine is louder than the 2011. It does have an extra. 50 cc.

You certainly hear the open airbox on a 2012, but it's not annoying - hard to think it would be louder than earlier models

Uncorked muffler issues are something else
